Asahi, the Japanese dragon boy, introduced himself to Mr. Paul and the others quickly before he went off to hide the dragon from the villagers with the help of Thomas, who uttered a spell and waved his ring.
Thomas and Asahi then decided to go together to find the jungle man and ask for his help in defeating the sorcerer. Mary decided to stay back and help Blessy. Mr.Paul was busy creating new gadgets to help defeat an army if the need arose.
Asahi was pleased to see that Sheila had made his favorite Japanese snacks and soups so that he did not miss home. Thomas also enjoyed some of the foods, although he did not relish the natto. The others tried to keep a straight face when trying out the food. All good for Asahi because he could eat it all later.
Thomas and Asahi then bid goodbye to all and vanished. They appeared near the hut. They could hear the man talking in French to someone inside. They were careful not to attract attention and carefully opened the door of the hut and peeped in. To their horror, they saw that the jungle man was tied to his chair and a lady was talking to him in Japanese. Thomas looked at Asahi and mouthed - Librarian. Asahi understood, and they stepped out. The Frenchman had seen them but kept quiet. He was relieved and knew that the boys would save him from the evil lady whose language he did not understand at all. After all, he was a character in a book.
Thomas, meanwhile, waved his hand and got a sack, and then both he and Asahi crept behind the evil librarian and put the sack on her and tied her up quickly. As it was a magical sack, the second it touched her head, it swallowed her up instantly without a fight. Thomas untied the Frenchman, and with the help of the return spell, all three of them returned home. The evil librarian regained her senses and shouted for help. The sorcerer's assistants had been keeping watch outside, and they went inside and untied her, or tried to, because the moment they touched the sack, they were swallowed up too.
Asahi, Thomas, and the Frenchman whose name is Pierre met Mr.Paul. Paul and Pierre talked about the sorcerer and ways to defeat him. Thomas and Asahi went off to play in the playroom for a while, and the elders decided to discuss the plans and how to defeat the sorcerer.
Thomas studied a few more spells and was now able to bring forth a gypsy's globe that showed the future. Asahi wanted to see what happened to the evil librarian, and they saw that she was being rescued by the sorcerer and taken to her land to be punished for not being able to defeat the boys. The villagers in Japan scorned her and scolded her for being a traitor and attacking her village boy. She felt remorse and held her head low.
The sorcerer was angry. The librarian was punished, and Paul was building a strong fortress and gadgets to defeat the sorcerer.
What happened after that? Read the next chapter soon.
