Fast and Easy Sticky Brown Rice in the Instant Pot

in #food7 years ago

I like to use rice as an addition to a lot of dishes and it's super simple with the instant pot. I've broken down what is basically a 3 step process(add rice, add water, cook) into a simple process with lots of pictures so nothing gets lost. In total it takes a little over 35 minutes to make and easily serves 4.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown rice
  • 2.5 cups water

Instructions

  1. Start by adding 2 cups of brown rice into the pot.

  2. Next add 2.5 cups of water.

  3. Put the lid on and set it to "Sealing".

  4. Set the instant pot to "Manual", "High Pressure", and 22 minutes. The pot will slowly come to pressure and then run for 22 minutes.

  5. When the 22 minutes are up the instant pot will beep a bunch and automatically go into "Keep Warm" mode. Don't touch anything and let it sit in this mode for 10 minutes. This will help the pot depressurize naturally. I find it helpful to set a timer at this point.

  6. Once the keep warm mode has run for 10 minutes your rice is done! Turn off and unplug the instant pot and carefully flip the release valve into "Venting" mode to let the remainder of the steam release.

  7. My last bit of advice would be to spoon the rice out into another container once the instant pot quickly after opening the lid. The rice will stick to the sides of the pot and be a major pain to clean because it is still being heated by the element bellow.

Obviously this is a pretty simple one but I'm still getting used to creating these. Please let me know if you have any feedback on the format or the instructions. Feel free to check out my Minestrone recipe here. More to come!
