Beef Bulalo

If you are a beef lover and have lived in the Philippines, you probably have eaten a soup dish called “Bulalo”. This is a famous dish made of beef chunks and marrow bones. Hubby and I love this dish and most of the time, I ask him to cook this dish. Cooking this dish will normally take 2 and a half hours depending on how you prefer the beef cooked. Here’s a little tip, the longer the Bulalo is being cooked, the tastier it gets. Your patience will be tested if you are going to cook this.

Not only hungry stomach will be saved by this dish but also those who are not feeling well or having a hangover. This soup will calm your grumbling stomach, especially during cold days.

Bulalo Restaurant in Siargao

During our stay in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, we have encountered this “Bulaloan sa Bankerohan” Restaurant that offers different kinds of soups made of beef. In this island, having seafood is the most common dish to have but we decided to opt for this restaurant which can be found along the high way of General Luna. The place is purely in native design and does not look fabulous compared to other restaurants. But who cares with the look of the place if their foods taste superb?

What I love about this dish?

The warm soup plus the soft marrow bones are the best part for me. I normally have a soy sauce mixed with lemon and chilli to make it even tastier. The corn and cabbage are also a great mix for this dish. Of course, this will not be complete if there’s no rice. I love this dish and I consider this as one of my favourite Filipino dishes. Can’t blame me.
