Squid rolls, the authentic sandwich of Madrid

 Good morning, evenings or steemians nights !!!! I bring you my first recipe, a meal 100% of my land, Madrid ..... the famous squid sandwich! 

If you ever visit Madrid you cannot miss the visit to the Plaza Mayor which, apart from serving the famous sandwiches, is fabulous for a good afternoon. But if you do not have the opportunity to come here I bring you without further delay the famous recipe, it is simple but very effective. 

Recipe for 4 people

Difficulty: 3/10              Preparation time : 15 min            Cooking time: 30 min 

The first thing we need are quality ingredients that raise the recipe to another level. We will need:

- Squid (500gr, for 4 people) 

- Flour for frying or batter 

- Vegetable oil 

- Mini breads 

Optional

You can season the flour with a half teaspoon of paprika and a half teaspoon of pepper to give a touch of spicy flavor. 

The juice of a half lemon to give a bit of acidity (in this case I will use it) 

You can add an alioli at the base of the bread (although it's a scandal, hahaha). 

Recipe: Step by step  

  •   First of all we clean the squid and cut them into thin strips of a centimeter more or less.  
  •   Next, we dry them very well with kitchen paper, this step is very important if we want the batter to continue in the squid and not end up laughing in the pan.  
  •   Once the squid is dry, put the flour and pieces of squid in a plastic bag. We close the bag and shake it from one side to the other so that they mix well, in this way the squid will only catch the amount of necessary flour :). Still we can put the squid in a sieve to remove the possible excess.  
  •   We will heat enough oil in a deep frying pan (if possible a fryer for better result), it is VERY IMPORTANT that the oil is very hot, about 180-190ºC, more or less when it starts to come out a little smoke (if you have a thermometer , better)  
  •  Once hot, add the squid in small batches so they do not stick together. Fry for 3-5 minutes until golden brown and then put directly on the sliced bread, which has a little oil so that the bread takes a little flavor (this is another of the small tricks to make a great sandwich) 
  •   And now comes the best part .... Eat!  

Of course, do not miss a small beer to accompany the sandwich;)
