Dangerfoods: The unhealthy food you didn't know was unhealthy...

Knowing what food you can and can't trust nowadays is hard. With sugary, processed, chemical filled junk, it's no wonder this generation is more overweight and unhealthy than any before.

Having a good idea of what foods are healthy and what foods aren't is necessary to live a long and happy life.
Most know that candy, diet soda and that pack of chips you had earlier will mess with your waistline, but what about the less talked about danger foods?

Well here are some of the unknown most unhealthiest foods you can buy:

Banana Chips:

Most people would think that because bananas are a fruit, that they would be healthy. Unfortunately, banana chips are made by deep frying bananas, which means that just one serving will contain a staggering 10g of saturated fat and at least 150 calories. Sugar and sulfur are usually added to other types of dry fruits.

Reduced fat peanut butter:

Reduced fat- a word that although stays true, some of the fats taken out are actually good for you. Sugar is added instead to maintain the flavor, along with other crazy ingredients. Maybe it's best to stick with all natural peanut butter instead.

Chewable Vitamin C:

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid and -ascorbic acid. With high acidic levels, they can do more damage to your mouth than sugar. Eating Kale, kiwis and other fruits and vegetables are a healthier alternative.

Cereals:

Cereals are often marketed as a great way to start the day, but that is far from the truth. Cereals are full of sugar! Unfortunately, breakfast cereals are loaded with GMO ingredients and it seems almost all processed food is the same nowdays.

During the production of breakfast cereals grains are placed into a machine called an extruder after being mixed with water into a sludge. This grain sludge is forced out of tiny holes at high temperatures and pressure, shaping them into those cute little o’s, stars, flakes, and puffs. Then they are sprayed with a coating of oil and sugar to keep them crispy and crunchy. Much of the nutrients are destroyed in this process, and any essential fatty acids are denatured, making them useless to our bodies.

Sushi:

Sushi would seem healthy as it is fish, but most of the time the rolls contain mostly rice and not many vegetables.
Sushi is a temperamental food and has the potential to cause severe illness and even death. Because sushi is raw, it can be a breeding ground for potential parasites and bacteria. In spite of the many health benefits provided through fish, contaminants in the water create grave danger for consumers.

Couscous:

Couscous is basically tiny pasta. A refined grain similar to white pasta. Go for whole wheat or try a healthier alternative, Quinoa.

It's not always easy eating right, but with some tweaks and changes to our diet, we can all become better at looking after ourselves.
