Our obsession with food

in #food7 years ago (edited)

It comes down to technology, for a few reasons. One, is deprivation to our senses. We have formed into a society that’s so accustomed to sitting in front of a screen and typing, for the vast majority of the day. And that is not exciting all of our senses. I had read someone say, that people want something that’s tangible, that they can see and feel and smell and taste and that we’re the slaves of growing up in that digital world. We need more connection with our real world that we know of. The more the better. We as a race are trying to create a digital copy of the world that we live in, in our palms. There in comes the second reason.

It’s also making us more isolated. We’re craving community. And food is also allowing us to access the globe, so we can find what kappa
is and how to prepare something with it, in two seconds on our phones.

Yes, it is time to get back to the real world. We would do well to get back to our food gardens. Even if you don't have much land you can grow in pots. Your youtube videos can teach us how to grow tomatoes, so lets not look at tomatoes digitally let's actually grow the real plant and eat the its real fruit. That would bring the senses back to the real world.
