Visiting Chill360 for some Rolled Ice Cream!

CHILLS 360 Ice Cream is a small chain in north Texas and the first in the area to serve Thai-inspired ice cream rolls. This idea comes from the streets of Thailand.

The execution is similar to cold-stone creamery where the concoction creators work on freezing slabs, but the preparation is unique in that the final product is thin strips of ice cream rolled and put one by one into the bowl and then covered with toppings. It is both fun to watch and delicious.

Chill 360 Rockwall

There are several locations in North Texas, but we chose to meet up at the Rockwall location. This is a great location as the store is nestled in a quaint downtown storefront area that is very friendly to people just walking around the area and eating, shopping, and exploring. CHILLS 360 has a nice corner location, and there were a few people standing outside waiting for the doors to open when we arrived.

Storefront

They have a pretty, colorful, but simple menu posted inside where you can order concoctions like the "Pinky Promise," made of Graham cracker and Strawberries, or the "What the Fudge" made with a real fudge brownie and nuts.

Beating

After the ice cream is beaten into submission and the requested toppings are minced and beaten into the ice cream goodness, the resulting mixture is then spread out into a very thin square.

Be warned, they beat the crap out of the ice cream and the unexpected sound of the steel utensils pounding on the steel inlay work surface is LOUD! This just makes it fun to watch. @AnnieTime recorded a video of this, so hopefully we will get a DTube video of the experience that includes the cacophony.

This is a fun process to watch, especially when they write your name on the freezing surface, upside down so that you can see it. Look, they even wrote "Square" for SquareLink!

After you admire the upside down writing, they then begin to scrape strips out of the square, carefully pushing these strips into rolls.

Roll after Roll end up at the bottom of the tray, it is really something to watch. I kept wondering what they would do if the roll broke or something, but they did it perfect every time.

After they finish creating rolls from the ice cream strips, they then grab a bowl and pick up each roll with tongs and place them in the bowl.

After a while, you begin to wonder if they all are going to fit, but I think they have some tricks to make sure they all fit snugly into the bowl. I'm sure each person we watched had a lot of experience in creating these unique treats.

The bowl with rolled ice cream strips is then topped with additional items that make quite an appetizing presentation.

The Verdict

Five Stars!
5stars

Well there are no pictures to describe how they final creation tastes, but I can only say that it does indeed taste as good as it looks.

One thing to note is that this is a very small establishment, and seating is only available outside the shop, so it is recommend to visit on a nice day, so you can enjoy your fresh ice cream treat while it is still cold.

Chills 360 gets 5 Stars from SquareLink, and we will have to wait for the review from @AnnieTime to see her rating.
