🌶 ROASTED RED CHILLI SAUCE 🌶

in #food4 years ago

No such thing as too much kimchi 1.pngAnother day, 24 hours under another lockdown, and therefore, another recipe!

I love hot things, and there is always some kind of hot sauce in my fridge, whether homemade, store bought, or a gift from a friend.

This is my original recipe, thought up while looking for a smokey hot sauce.

INGREDIENTS 🌶

  • 3 cups dried chilli peppers
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic
  • 1 T crushed garlic, store bought variety
  • 1/2 T salt

METHOD 🌶

Take off all the caps of the chillios, and discard any loose seeds. It's okay to still have a few seeds remain, but not too many as it adds extra dryness and heat.

Chop the chillies into halves, and place in the blender. Add the garlic, salt and oil. Give the mix a blitz, and check consistency. Add as much or as little olive oil to the mix as you like.

I recommend that the mixture is almost liquid, and errs on the side of more liquid than paste.

YOU'RE DONE!🌶

Simple as pie, and so delicious. You can of course use fresh chillies, but the dried ones add the best smokey flavour.

I had this with sausages and mashed potatoes last night, it was next level, y'all.

Please let me know if you make this or a variation.

Yay! @princessmewmew so glad to 'see' you! I'm really finding all the good ole' crew here on #hive. Boy, what a changed world we live in and then I return to the changed world of Steemit, but luckily many were kind enough to send me on my merry way here to #hive.

How are you? How is your area of the world?

This is a great recipe, but I'm so BAD at hot things. I barely use black pepper in my food, so hot peppers are out, but I LOVE roasted sweet peppers and am growing as many as I can manage this year in the garden. I'm definitely upping my garden produce game in this uncertain world.

So glad to 'see' you :)

OH YAY! HI! I'm also slowly discovering all my long lost friends!! I'm so glad to see you! I even looked you up on FB a while ago, but was too shy to actually send a friend request LOL!

Don't be scared of the heat - you acclimatise and eventually can eat anything hot! It's a challenge xx

how are you?!! Can't wait to see some of your beautiful art again :)

Are you part of the powerhousecreatives discord? I think you would love it there!!

And you must wear gloves while chopping the chillies! LOL. I love spicy. At home we have small chili peppers, but they're not good. Since I found out that spicy is an excellent anti-inflammatory, helps with metabolism and is good for the immune system, it can't be missing from my meals. A new recipe to be made. Until our next meeting, princess.

heheh i didn't wear gloves, but I have learnt that lesson the hard way. 😂chilli in your eye is not fun

Boy, that looks good. I don't have any chilis at home right now, but I'll rectify that the next time I go to the store.

make sure you get the dried ones! Or get fresh and dry them in your oven :) xx

Surprisingly, dry chilis are a little hard to come by here. Lots and lots and lots of ground chili. So, I'll buy fresh. Do you think I should clean them then dry or dry then clean?

clean then dry! much easier. when they're dry they get brittle and a bit dusty almost and the dust gets in your throats and nose and sneezies galore
