Shakshuka (baked Egyptian style poached eggs in spicy tomato sauce) made from scratch

Hello and welcome to another Steemit post from Simple Recipes

  This is a quick and easy recipe. This recipe can be prepared for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper diced
  • 1 green bell pepper ,iced
  • 1 tablespoon crushed garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of each : hot chili powder,smoked paprika,brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of each : black pepper,salt, cinnamon, Cajun
  • 2 tablespoons of minced parsley
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onion
  • 1 liter of tomato sauce
  • 12 eggs


Directions

1) In a large deep pan heat ; olive oil and butter until shimmering then add onion,peppers stir for 6 minutes! add garlic stir for 1 minute then add salt,black pepper,paprika,Cajun,chili powder,brown sugar and cinnamon until fragment then add tomato sauce. Stir to combine then reduce heat and simmer for 6 minutes. Adjust seasoning to taste.

2) Spray oven pan with non-sticky oil pour the tomato sauce ,with large spoon make a well near perimeter of the pan and break an egg directly into it. Repeat with the remaining eggs working around the pan as you go. Sprinkle the eggs with black pepper cover with aluminum and bake in preheated oven 375 for 10 minutes or until the eggs white are barely set and the yolks are still runny

3) Sprinkle with parsley and serve immediately with Pita bread.
