in #foraging-trail7 years ago (edited)

The pace of foraging posts on Steemit is really picking up! And we can sure tell that it's the season for berries and summer mushrooms. Steemit has some stellar foragers! If you are interested in foraging, come on into this report to learn more about the Foraging Trail and Steemit foragers, and appreciate nature's bounty.

This is the 8th update about the great posts being curated on the @foraging-trail. This report lists all the posts made since the last report. Many of these posts have passed the 7-day payout period. But you can still make comments on those posts!

Introduction

The Foraging-Trail is a SteemTrail project to grow an engaged community of people within Steemit, who are interested in foraging for food and crafts. That means making posts and comments where we all can learn, share our thoughts about foraging, and show our field trips, harvests, and what we do with nature’s wild bounty.

The long-term goal is that people will join Steemit to be part of specific communities – like Foraging - because they are so active, engaging, and supportive. Focused Steemit communities will provide more structure for getting new people connected easily, without drifting away in confusion or frustration.

28 Great Steemit Foraging Posts

These 28 posts were put on the Steemit blockchain in less than a 3-week period! The authors were great in this group of posts - they gave us their own images, experiences, insights, and perspectives. That makes this Steemit content unique and valuable!

The Foraging Trail aims to discover new authors posting original foraging content and to support the community's regular authors, too. Right now, @haphazard-hstead is the only curator. If you are interested in helping out, join the Foraging-Trail on Discord!

This is the 8th published list of curated foraging posts. Some great things to note about this list of posts. There are 28 posts from 19 different people, with 13 authors new to the @foraging-trail, and 6 repeat authors.

There is incredible value in these 28 posts! If you haven’t seen them yet, I urge you to read them. Even though the payout period is closed for many of these posts, you can still make comments on them. I strongly encourage you to leave your foraging questions and comments in these posts. That’s how we learn and get to know each other. And check out the blogs for these authors, too, to see what they've been doing recently.

These 28 foraging posts generated $1172.47 in total payouts to authors and curators, for an average payout of $41.87 per post. This is an unusually high average that reflects the early days of Hard Fork 19. A better measure is the median of $10.18. So half of these foraging posts made more than $10.18, while half made less than that. That's great for having so many new Steemians on this list, and the incredible rise in the number of posts on Steemit overall this past month that make visibility difficult for almost everyone!

With all the bots and vote trails, reporting on the upvotes generated by these posts doesn't have much meaning. Instead, because the @foraging-trail is about building a Steemit community, it's better to look at metrics for community interaction.

What about community interaction? These posts had 875 comments, or over 31 comments/post on average, and a median of 20 comments. How does 20 comments/post compare to what you are creating or reading? According to steempunks.com run by @ontofractal, the average is 5 comments/post over the past month.

Congratulations to all the authors! Thank you, everyone, for your upvotes and support of these posts. Please consider following the many authors whose work is featured here. If you follow the @foraging-trail, too, you can see the curation in real time. Then you can easily upvote the curated posts to support our Steemit foraging writers. And you won’t miss some great foraging posts! Don’t forget to comment and upvote comments as well – it really shows appreciation of each other within our community.

Let's make Steemit the premier foraging community on the Internet. How can you help?

  2. Start writing about foraging topics and post them with the Foraging tag! You can find out more about the Steemit Foraging community and guidelines for being upvoted by the @foraging-trail here and here.
  3. Volunteer with SteemTrail to help curate posts about Foraging. If you want to help, join the Foraging-Trail on Discord
  4. Stay tuned for updates. If you follow @foraging-trail here on Steemit, you’ll see them.

I hope to see you on the Foraging Trail! Happy Foraging!

Note: All author rewards from this post will be used to fund @foraging-trail and SteemTrail. The SBD portion supports the larger SteemTrail initiative. The SP stays with the @foraging-trail to increase its upvote payout power.

This ia a really awesome list! I am thrilled to be a part of it! I have gone through and followed anyone I didn't already! I also upvoted and resteemed! I am about to go find some cinnabar chanterelles I hope! We found a location covered with tiny pinning so we are headed back in hopes of finding great numbers of mature fruit!

Oh and Thank you! LOL! Also, can you tell me how discord works? I joined it but my son set it up for me, Is it like a chat room? What is the goal?
