The lifespan of an adult mayfly is between 30 minutes and two days. We always live as though we have this vast amount of time in front of us. We put off happiness until some later date when everything in our life is perfect. We are told that once we reach 65, then we can retire and live the good life. Who knows if this future will ever happen? It's good to save and prepare for the future, but we shouldn't deny ourselves pleasure out of life.
We're never going to be as young again as we are right now. The time is now to choose happiness.
Choose not to let the weight of the world get you down. The weight will turn to dust just as you will. It was always an illusion and it was only there because you let it rest upon your shoulders. There will be difficulties and obstacles but don't let them make you miserable. After all, in 100 years all the hardships and happiness you felt in your life won't matter. You don't need to take anything in life so seriously that you can't find a reason to smile through it.
In the grand scheme of the universe, is 100 years really any longer than the moments a mayfly gets? Life is short, but don't turn that into a problem. Our enjoyment of the few days we have is all about the way we view them. We are so blessed to be here. :)
