Many people think: “What the heck do I need privacy for? I’m not a pedophile, I don’t sell drugs and I don’t get involved in politics. There’s no way anybody could say I’m a criminal: I have absolutely no need for privacy!”
“Why should I be afraid of the police? Their job is to protect nice people like me!”
People who talk like this are extremely naïve. Because they accept without question everything they read in history books which have been “sanitized” by the powers that be, they are seen as “model citizens”.
Actually, even a “model citizen” with a modicum of judgment and the ability to think independently can dig a little deeper into the history of mankind. From ancient times to the present, the real purpose of having police, guards and soldiers has been to protect the people who hold power. If the people on top of the social pyramid happen to see you as a “good person”, you will also be afforded protection for the time being.
The trouble is, if you happen to accidentally upset a powerful person, they can always use their “special rights” to crush you like a bug. This is when having been a “good citizen” for X years matters not one bit!
很多人會說：『我想要隱私權幹什麼？我不是戀童癖、也不會販賣毒品、更不會搞政治，無論怎麼說都不能算不法之徒，根本沒什麼好保密！』
『警察！警察有什麼好防範的，他們是老百姓的保姆，他們的職責就是保護好人的！』
說這種話的人也未免太天真了，是全盤接受官方『消毒』過的歷史課本，當權者眼中的『乖國民』。
其實，有判斷力、思考能力的『乖國民』只要稍加研究歷史就很容易發現自古以來世界各地的警察、軍隊真正的用途是保護權力階層，假如當權者認為你是『好人』就順便照顧你。
問題是萬一不小心冒犯有權人士，他有辦法利用『特殊權利』來對付你。當權者一旦把你看成眼中釘，你再『乖』都沒有用。
