I actually think some of our life experiences should be written as comic books because when you sit down to analyze some of it you will be left with no other option than to laugh. Sometimes you will just say to yourself what was I thinking when I did what I did. This was exactly the situation Annabel found herself. Sitting on a sofa in her one room self contain she began to laugh to herself thinking about what happened to her twelve years back which made her to start to live alone all she could just do was laugh till a call brought her back to the present life.
Twelve years ago Annabel moved in with her aunt (paternal) briefly after her mom die. It was actually a thug of war on who to take care of her when her mom die since the father wasn't ready to give her to her maternal family so he decided to take her to his sister far away from where her maternal family can have access to her. She was actually the only child from her mother before she passed on. Mrs Russell (Annabel's aunt) was a loving and caring woman with five children but her husband was an opposite of her. Annabel was quite older than all her aunt's children so she practically became there small mummy. The children loves Annabel and she also love the children and she took care of them has her own, her presence in the house practically became an ease to Mrs Russell due to the nature of her job she travels alot and while she is away Annabel cater for the children. On the other hand nothing she did satisfies Mr Russell he is always finding one fault or the other in what she does. He treats her as if she isn't human, anytime the wife goes on a trip he will give Annabel instruction not to enter the kitchen to take any food until he ask him to do so and he is hardly around he only comes to the house at night most times the children would have slept. Anytime Mrs Russell travels it automatically became a starvation period for her. This went on and on until one day Annabel not knowing what came over decided to go to her aunt to ask her for permission to start any available work since she isn't a university graduate. Her aunt became surprised and asked her has she ever denied her anything or any access why this sudden action. She kept quiet not knowing what to say because she didn't want to sound as if she was reporting her husband. The case actually close that night but Annabel has already made up her mind on what to do within three weeks she was able to get a menial job which provided her a small stall as an accomodation after explaining her plight to them.
That same week her aunty brought the news that she has been transferred and she will leave for the new location the following week. She brought in an elderly woman to take care of Annabel and her children. Annabel joy knows no bound at the news. One faithful Friday morning she decided to send message to her father with one of the neighbor's phone and also to her aunt that she will be staying with her friend that needs roommate. She sent them the house address. Everything well planned and her plan worked out. She left the house Friday afternoon without informing her aunt's husband.Few months later that her aunt came around and everything came to light that Annabel actually lied to move out and the husband actions to her whenever she wasn't around gave her shock she couldn't recovered from but nothing could be done again she has already gain admission into one of the state polytechnic. That was how she practically start life on her own. Remembering that now that she is a graduate and working in a big firm makes her laugh.
