Help me & WIN 250 HIVE for a short thriller / horror story

A6400 - 30sec - ISO 200 - f4.0 - no editing

It has been a long long time since my last post so if you don't know me:
My name is Norman - I am 34 years old and living in Hamburg, Germany. When I am not super busy I record videos and put them onto https://d.tube, mostly short talking head & tutorials. For a few weeks now I have a new camera and I want to get deeper into film making instead of short youtube style videos and I decided to announce something big today: I am going to record and edit my first short film. I want it to be in the a thriller/horror genre (without blood ;)) and now you are coming into place!

I need YOU as the scriptwriter!

Of course, I will give you proper credits and I am planning to document the process on my youtube channel and talk there about things I have learned and also about this contest here :) But because it will be a short film & I am a bit restricted in gear, space, time and actors, we have a few rules to follow for the story and contest:

  • max. 3 different locations (no crowded places like e.g. supermarket)
  • max. 2 main characters + 1 side role
  • max. 1000 words for the script
  • written in English (or German)
  • one story per author
  • older stories of you are allowed

Deadline

  • Your post should be on hive until 2020-08-01
  • Share the link here as a comment

You can win:

+ 50 HIVE for 2nd and 3rd

I will carefully read every script and decide which one fits the most and who will win the contest. The winner script will become the baseline for the following screenwriting and short film. I think the finished film will be in German with English subtitles to make it easier and more natural for the actors.

I already have 2 actors who are open to creating this movie with me for a pizza as a salary. So way cheaper than the price of this contest regarding the current hive price ;)

If you know someone who could be interested in this contest please consider reblogging and sharing this on social media.

Thanks for your time to read so far and for your input on the blockchain!

Peace!

P.S. and here another long exposure shot to spice up this post even more:

A6400 - 30sec - ISO 800 - f4.0 - no editing

Sort:

I've never written a script before and the format intrigued me.
Here is my most humble submission.

The doppleganger trope is hardly original in movies, but I surmise it should make for a pretty fun exercise, necessitating clever camera tricks and the two main actors switching roles and positions when needed.

...unless your actors are identical twins, that is. That would definitely ruin the challenge!

I made sure to include a stabbing with pints of (fake) blood.

I hope you all like it.

Great idea! Thank you for submitting and I am proud that I gave you the reason to first time write a script :D

I will wait with reading until the deadline but your little teaser is very promising :)

Thanks thanks thaaaanks!

Horror story !!!! Not my cup of tea... :( Maybe @badfinger has something to share...

Ah, only just seeing his now ^_^ A very nice idea indeed!

Makes me think of the script I wrote for my drama/theatre exam years back. Was based around a group of strangers stuck inside a single room, hiding from whatever was hunting them outside (creature was never specified for suspense/mystery) as the plot itself focused on their mental states deteriorating over time. Only had to use one location which was ideal with minimal prop usage. Went quite well.

Not sure if I'll have time to write something similar, but will keep my eye out. 😃

I've been also in the middle of my short film, I am waiting for the lockdown to be over, for finishing it.

I was also in your situation, I gave my friends a pack of cigarette as remuneration. It's been also shot in a few locations. It was a crime story that I was making.

I will try to write as good as I can, Will be posting soon.

Thank you for mentioning, @priyanarc

Thank you for sharing your creative work man! I will look into it when the deadline ends :) great great great!!!

Not sure if I could be a perfect scriptwriter, but have a real story alongwith a a proof as it get captured in mobile...

Hey bro :) it's about a written short story - you have plenty of time so you could start to write it down with a beginning-middle-end schema and post the link here :) would be exciting I think!

Hey @chinyerevivian see this!

♥️

Hey hey @chinyerevivian you still want to participate? 9 days left for max 1000 words :) Should be manageable I think :P Excited for your short story!

Hmm, I think I have two old posts with a quite interesting fictional story which could pretty well serve as a cool and cheap script for your first low budget thriller/horror (without blood) genre short film.

Let me see first if I can find the posts in a couple of days.

Cheers!! :)

Yeah cool! Old stories are counting as well :)
But I will add a new rule: only one story per author :D

Thanks & looking forward to read yours :)

But I will add a new rule: only one story per author :D

No problem, I think I could find these posts I'm talking about sooner than expected. Once I got them, I'll share these posts with you here so you can choose one of them to read it and see if it's feasible put those stories on video/film without issues. I have the hunch you will like these little thrilling stories. Specially, because I believe these can be pretty easy to film and without the need or requirements of have to use much human resources, locations or a high financial budget. :)

Great man! I am excited to read one :) please share only the one that is better so I don't have to pick ^^ thank you!

Hey hey @por500bolos Coould you please please search for the stories? I would love to read them and I would by rly sad if you miss the deadline! Peace!

Horror is not my thing. But I will try

Hey @ebingo did you tried? Still 9 days left to try :P
