Moving Quickly

in #freewrite27 days ago (edited)

Moving quickly is a big deal lately. The roads are crowded, road works don't make it any better and the checkpoints at the borders are back (so far the free EU zone, not that I noticed open borders ever).

Public transport is a theft(unless you live in a capital city in the western part of the country).
NS, the train company, charges a lot of money for a ticket, 51-83 euros to visit The Hague. For that amount, you sit on a cheap couch and have to change trains 3 times. No fun during windy, rainy, cold days, when instead of trains buses are used for transport which makes the journey at least 1-2 hours longer.

This means that we decided not to visit Bricks if Wonders. It's disappointing but 109 euros for travelling 5 hours miserably is not what we consider moving quickly or fun.

Hopefully, all those artists will discover people do live in the rest of the country as well.

Soon, only the rich can afford to travel. With prices like these, the 15-minute regions are a fact.

Prices and things over here are no better, maybe even worse. We are now being forced to pay $380.00 a year for garbage pickup, and it can only be from their company, even though we do not use it, we have to pay for it because they add it in on our property taxes.

We pay the same but do have a very tiny garbage can which is emptied once per month. There was a day it was every week. Hard to believe this is no longer possible. The can is chipped by the way and if the lid isn't closed they will not empty it. With us it's also included in the yearly taxes we pay for the house we live in (taxes are paid by those who rent and the owner).

Once a month, for a small can would not fly over here, we have lots of trash.
Here, only the owner pays the property tax, not the renter.

We have lots of trash too if we do not pay attention, don't separate (glass, paper, plastic + tetra packs) and buy too much. There are hardly public trash and left. The only thing we can do is stand in the can and try to make it fit in or wait till next month.

They left us 3 large containers with lids, one for regular trash, one for recycling, and the other is for yard waste. They will no longer pick up piles of palm fronds or any other tree limbs stacked on the ground. One palm tree will fill the can. They pick it up once a week.

Even though we take our trash to the dump station, they still make us pay for their service. Also, if you hire a different company, you still have to pay their company plus the new one. I think that should be illegal.

They get us to do their job when we separate recyclable things, which means more money for them.

Sorry for the rant, but things like this make me mad.

Here we have:
1 grey garbage can (the size is the price you pay)
1 green for garden / compost
1 blue ( paper - clean paper only)
1 green bag (plastic/tetra packs - cans)
Glass is collected at the supermarket. They took away the paper, magazines + clothes.
It's not allowed to leave the compost in your garden, bigger trash (gates and so on you should make small packages of 1m2 and bundled and it costs extra to let them pick up.there's a limit plus you need a pass to take the garbage not collected to the dump station.

Can't you leave the palm trees and so on in the garden and start your own green dump station?

I agree with you it's illegal to let customers pay twice. I wonder if those new ones cam't take care of that fight to get rid of the old one. It is what the electricity and health insurances do but if it comes to trash we only have one option. It's the one the city provides or so.

They have a monopoly on trash. I do have places where I put palm fronds. I was talking about how other people are complaining about the cans not being big enough for all their yard waste.
