1)Marvel VS. Capcom: Infinite

The entire Marvel vs. Capcom series is a veritable fighting game hype factory, responsible for some of the flashiest combos, greatest upsets, and loudest screams ever witnessed by enraptured onlookers.Thankfully, the wait between games is much shorter than last time, as Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is coming out this year across multiple platforms. It's the same crossover fighter that we all know and love.The new Infinity Stones mechanic lets you choose a special type of boost to augment your skills. The full roster still hasn't been confirmed, but if you've loved the X-Men in past fighters, it sounds like you might be sorely disappointed...

2)Destiny 2

Destiny 2 is an upcoming online-only multiplayer first-person shooter video game in development by Bungie and in assistance, Vicarious Visions and High Moon Studios.Destiny 2 hype is in full effect, especially after we got the chance to poke around in the Destiny 2 beta.

4)Super Mario Odyssey

5)Assassin's Creed Origins

Ubisoft gave its premier franchise a year off, and Assassin's Creed has come back nicely refreshed with Origins.Set in Ancient Egypt, this open-world precursor tells the story of how the Assassins were founded, and does so while reinvigorating the familiar historical action.Egypt feels very alive and full of fun possibilities, thanks in part to the new eagle scouting ability. Hopefully it's the refresh that Assassin's Creed truly needed.

6) Forza Motorsport 7

Microsoft's flagship racing sim is back and as always, you can expect hundreds of high-end cars to collect and customize before you race for the best times on picturesque, damn-near-photorealistic tracks based on real-world locations from around the globe.Forza 7 is pushing some serious pixels, too.

7)Metroid: Samus Returns

Nintendo sure kept us waiting - but at long last, we're finally getting another (officially licensed) 2D Metroid adventure. Metroid: Samus Returns is a new take on Game Boy sequel Metroid 2, developed in partnership with MercurySteam and produced by Yoshio Sakamoto.Along with the 2.5D visuals, Samus Returns brings other additions like 360-degree aiming and a melee counter that provides an out if a hostile alien gets up in Samus' grill.

8)Pokken Tournament DX

This probably isn't how most people envisioned Pokemon making its Nintendo Switch debut, but Pokken Tournament DX is a chance for this underappreciated Pokemon-themed fighting game to reach a bigger audience. DX brings the roster up to 21 fighters with the additional of five more Pokemon, including Scizor and Croagunk.Switch-owning fighting fans should have plenty to tide them over until the inevitable announcement of a new Smash Bros. title.

9)Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

Here's to hoping your personal favorite Fire Emblem fighter gets their chance to shine as a one-warrior army against legions of puny foes.
