I'm busy with some pretty serious content and could share it today, but it's Monday and Monday already has a bad rap.
I could tell you why I didn't like Mondays once upon a time either, but these days it's just another day. I've been self employed for too long to remember much what a weekend even feels like.
People seem to think if you're self-employed you have more free time. I've found I've always had far less, in fact. But that's probably me and a pretty sterling work addiction.
My work has always been creative as well. This makes it ever harder to stop when the fire is ignited and a new idea begins to spawn. So many ideas... so little time!
But I won't talk more about work on a Monday. Or share content that may be a bit too serious too early on in the week. I've found that by controlling the content I view (kinda like a mental diet plan), I can control my mood and perspective far better as well, you see.
I even do a "content detox" every now and then and only feed my brain happy thoughts and fairy dust to balance out the newsy stuff we're bombarded with on a daily basis now.
And I used to shut down Fakebook for a three day detox to rebalance my brain, and resultant perspective, as well.
I'm finding I don't have to do that on PeakD though.
The content here makes my heart happy. Probably because it's human, original and more authentic. And fuckin' creative. Which is inspiring... although that may feed the screen time addiction because after seeing some great photography on here in the last couple of days I now want a camera as well.
Oh boy.
So here's another Fortnite video I made for fun.
Yeah. I'm a noob. And a Bot apparently. (my son tells me I'm a Bot and, since I can't keep up with him in Duos, I have to agree)
Thing is... when you get to my age you don't really care about being a Bot. Or a noob. It's life you see. If you like learning (which I do) you're kinda perpetually a noob and/or a Bot. It goes with the territory.
Also... I do get kinda Sweaty sometimes. But then there are times when I totally Bot out. But I guess that's life too. And being human.

Outstanding post @nickydee! Yeah, a lot of people don't understand self-employed, it usually takes twice the amount of hours as working for someone else. Also, it takes a while (sounds like you're there) that you break even enough to pay the bills, but not enough to make a fortune (unless you're timing is incredible on certain things). But you'll do really well here, with guidance from @snook and @dreemsteem and her dreems, you cannot go wrong!!! These two are two of the best in the business! And we have the 3rd one in @theterminal, @thekittygirl who amazes us with her knowledge.
Enjoy your time here, you will do well, no doubt.
Also, it might help you to write up a proper introduceyourself post, since I noticed you really haven't written one up yet. Run around 500 to 750 words and a couple of nice photos, and you'll do well. @brittandjosie and I can feature it in our heyhaveyamet project if you get it to me really quick after you write it, should you decide to write one.
This is fabulous! Loved it 💗I'm a 50 year old mom ...who occasionally plays online games with her two boys too! Throughout lockdown I played fortnite with them and got fairly good...but now...they are so far ahead of me and only ask me to play if they need a crappy player on their teem so that they can get a better match up hahaha. I love your candid relaxed style and look forward to reading more of your posts in Dreemport. I came to your post via Dreemport this morning... I have actually had it open on my laptop for a few days...but life has been hectic... I got there in the end.

Sometimes I impress him a l'il bit. He says he spectated me once and I was playing like a bit of a sweat. I told him I get nervous when I play with him because the pressures on so I get kinda botty.

I guess it depends on the kind of work that you do and the how workaholic you can get. I admit that when I started working from home, I have had less time to do other things but that is because I chose to focus on work. I used to detox myself from FB as well. Now I just spend as little time as possible. Such a toxic place to be FB is sometimes if you don't filter what you want to see.

I didn't even bother to log in to FB today... not when this is here. I needed a number and actually thought "ugh" and found it online instead. That is something right there, huh?
Fb is far more malevolent than that. If you haven't seen "The Great Hack" yet it's very worthwhile. And very scary! I"m out.
What's happening here is what society needs more of in my opinion. I"m a recovery coach (trauma/addiction/mental health)
I'm putting it into a story together but this is FAR healthier and constructive than what's happening on mainstream social media. In many, many ways... more to follow. I'm really excited about this, in fact. If you know how trauma works and the effects mentally and socially of capitalism, what is happening here could actually shift very destructive behaviours and heal people. It's pretty incredible and I'm still wondering if this was done intentionally or it works this way naturally because the platform was built with good intentions.
FB began with a smear campaign because some girl didn't want to date someone didn't' it? No wonder it has ended up as it is today... :( No thanks.

So true. In general, everyone is benign so far which is refreshing. There may be differences in opinion but that's okay and we don't bash each other because of that. It's what I like about platforms like this. We have to play nice otherwise we will be banned lol!

Here's the thing... you can't control what people think and it mostly has very little to do with you in the first place (in my old experience). So as long as you're not hurting anyone (or yourself) do what makes you happy!

Maybe you might try suggesting Hive as an additional income stream. Hive posts pay out after 7 days so they continue to earn on Medium. I usually post on Hive and then Medium so I get the ongoing income after the 7 days.

Medium has an awesome community but it's a big corporation at the end of the day. People are looking around for something that supports its creatives a bit more. There are many great writers on Medium that are tired of the lack of transparency and not being fairly paid for their hard work. And nobody knows how the system works or pays participants. A mystery to this day despite repeated articles trying to work it out.
And there is some really good writing on there. But the stories that make the money are really bland, commercial and mostly about marketing. Not the creative stuff. Sad really...
