As of the launch in a few hours we are rebranding to Thunkgaria.
What is happening to Holybread and all my stuff?
Holybread.io is still live and you can play it. The upvote bot will still reward you based on your leaderboard rank.
What is Happening???
A little background. Thunkgaria has evolved out of 2 games. Holybread and Steem/HiveQuest.
A lot of people talk about Hive Games and Blockchain gaming.
Finally people are starting to talk about Hive-engine games.
Our goal For Thunkgaria is NOT to be a Blockchain game but become the 1st of many blockchain enabled games.
Blockchain games / Hive games / Blockchain enabled games??? Can you explain this?
A True Blockchain game example would be Cryptokitties. It is played with a smart contract embedded in the ETH blockchain. The art is stored on a companies centralized DB but the entire game play is governed by the smart contract.
Hive Games tried to use the 3 sec block time of Hive to record all player activity on the blockchain so if the game company went under, it is possible to mine the blockchain and rebuild the game state by a new company.
A good example of this was NextColony (I am thinking about relaunching it from the blockchain saved state as it has been shut down)
Hive-Engine (HE) games or so called NFT based games. Are actually run on a centralized HE DB. There is not real blockchain involved, only some NFT info is recorded on HIVE but it actually doesn't do anything. If HE shuts down tomorrow you have nothing.
So what is Thunkgaria then?
Thunkgaria is a blockchain enabled game. The game will not require a blockchain login and will not record information to a blockchain. It will be run on our centralized servers.
Our goal is if a player puts in 100 hours into Thunkgaria and then wants to move onto a new game they have the opportunity to recoup some of the value of those 100 hours.
How are we going to do this??
This is were the blockchain enable part comes in. Thunkgaria (and our future games) will have a player-to-player marketplace were players can trade off things they have earned during those 100 hours for a utility token, in our case that token with be HIVE.
So the only time you will need to work with the blockchain is during player-to-player transactions.
So if you have friends who want to play with you they do not need to understand blockchains. We are also working on a system to let them sell their items on the player-to-player marketplace without a HIVE account (more details to come later on)
The future
We are building out a few more games you will see soon. With these games will come the concept of universal items that can be used in any of our games.
So if you have a cool item in THunkgaria and don't want to play anymore but you like our new game, you can move the item over!
I know not having a blockchain login makes it feel like we are abandoning the blockchain but we are not!
We are hoping this will let us attract non-crypto players to our user base!

This is almost exactly what I had planned back when I was working on @thriveordie. The game itself would be completely off-chain, and the in-game p2p marketplace would be the only time one's blockchain login would be required.
This is a great idea, too, and something I've only seen a couple times elsewhere (Enjin being the only one I can think of off the top of my head). I think being able to transfer NFTs from one game to another will be a big deal in the near future.

Yes and the marketplace when launched will be open source so other people can utilize it and if our company goes offline the marketplace and all your earned valued in it will survive.
