Drive Zed Ded
If you haven't heard already, I'm working on a new game and this time it's in 3D for the PC. I've been working on this for about a month now I believe and it's coming along nicely, so I figured I'd give an update on it's progress.
DZD is based in a post-apocalyptic zombie infested future where you choose an upgradable vehicle to attempt to survive an ever increasing and difficult zombie horde over dozens of levels. Originally the game featured only an arena setting, but I have now included a city to wreak even more zombie death.
Currently I'm planning on doing between 20-30 levels for the first release, depending upon how long it takes to complete all of the levels. I would like to get this game onto Steam eventually and I need it to consume more than 2 hours of play time, while offering plenty of replay-ability, which shouldn't be an issue because who doesn't love killing zombies?
Ok enough yappin', here's some screenshots and videos of the current closed Alpha. Everything you see here is a work in progress and may or may not be in the final version.
This is a small sample of some of the included cars you can choose from to smash zombies to death. Some cars have animated drivers, but I'm not sure if I'm going to do all cars or not at this time for a few reasons ... mainly because it takes nearly an entire day rigging up a driver properly. First Person Camera
This was my first test with an animated driver with a first person camera. Originally the game started off with only an arena camera that followed you from afar. Once I added the city level it seemed like a first person and third person camera would be cool ... and it is! There's also a wheel cam. One day I'll get around to solving the clipping issue with the drivers arms.
Seeing how bad the interior of this truck model was made me upgrade all of the vehicles to have nice interiors ... for that FULLHQ effect.
Arena Daytime Setting
This is what I've been working on today. The arena's are a bit drab, so I've been adding some scenery and props to spice it up a bit and trying to balance the FPS with it. Currently DZD is running at 90 FPS on most levels, but I've been able to hit 300+ FPS on one that I may or may not include in the initial release. It may end up in a later update though.

This is an example of something that does not fit in the game well. Any artwork provided will need to match the overall post-apocalyptic theme of the game, but you get the idea of the possibilities hopefully.
