This is one of my summer projects to build our BBQ and fire-pit once its gets cooler in the evenings to have a glass of wine or beer around under the stars.
Step 1: Dig the foundation for the concrete.
Step 2: Place foundation stones around the circle you mark with a piece of rope and a stick around the centre pole in the 1st pic.
Step 3: Pour the base concrete to secure the base stones in place and form foundation. Include some supporting wire-mesh inside the concrete to stop it from cracking over time.
Step 4: Build the walls, fill centre with stone to the height you want and pour central layer of cement being careful to have a angle and draining point on it so it does not become a raised pond, every time it rains :D
Step 5: Make moulds to pour the grill supports with concrete and a bit of supporting wire inside. Use outdoor flexible tile glue to glue down the flat stones one the outer concrete and point in-between them after with a 50/50 mixture of the same tile glue and fine sand.
Step 6: Cover grill supports with flat stone and point in-between and lay a base of fireproof cement/mortar on the inside where the worst heat of the fire is going to be.
Step 7: Have a BBQ ;D
That does look neat.
I've been looking at options for some sort of outdoor cooking area here for the summer. Gravitating towards a cob oven at the moment.
Although the term 'summer' is a bit of a stretch here in Wales at the moment - rain, rain, rain...
I know what you mean about the Welsh summer. Liver in the UK for 16 years :D
