A @SHALOMACRES KIND OF MIND - PART 2

More wisdom from interacting with @shalomacres.

Yes, this is the same @shalomacres that just blessed us with an orange watermelon! We've hung out a few times and I've enjoyed hearing some of the ideas and concepts that @shalomacres has shared with me. This is another great idea, and I figured it is worth sharing with all of you.

VIDEO : A @SHALOMACRES KIND OF MIND - PART 2

Basically, this idea is rather simple, but very wise. When it comes to gardening and growing food, not everyone has to grow every kind of fruit or vegetable if people work together. If your neighbor has a large peach tree and you have a pear, just work out a trade rather than trying to plant an entire orchard. If you're great at growing potatoes but struggle with corn, find someone who's great at growing corn and see if you can trade, then they can focus on growing corn and not need to plant potatoes, and you can stick to what you do well, without struggling with trying to get that corn to grow.

Personally, I do like to try to grow everything that I can, but certain crops do always seem to fall short. This concept could help fill in some of the blanks that may appear in my garden. Also, it really appealed to me because it brings people together. Friends, family, neighbors and others can all be blessed by this idea, and the interaction that we can have with them will also increase, which helps us work on our relationships. What do you think of the idea?

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Thank you! And now my girls can help in style thanks to you!

Woooh that is good to hear, lovely children

This is something that my family and I have been practising for a few generations, starting with my grandfather. If he had something that did exceptionally well he would trade for something that a neighbour grew well. They traded other things too. Eggs for butter, rabbit meat for duck. My parents followed suit and then I do the same. My son does the same, passionfruit and melon for fresh fish. It works out to everyone's benefit...

Cici, we have volunteer Passion fruit growing here, so I will get to try it soon. No Idea where it came from, but I do intend to harvest it and keep the seeds. :)

Someone in your neighbourhood has passionfruit and a very nice little bird dropped a few seeds in some fertilizer... You should have more than one fruit from a vine. One fruit gives you plenty of seeds. We like it around here if you can keep people from stealing it from the other side of the wall! LOL Seriously, if they wanted some, they just had to ask...

No problem there, it is a very healthy vine! I have some fruit already the size of Kiwi fruit; how big do they get?

Hope your compound garden is doing well, my Sister! :D

Mine get to be about the size of a small softball. They will fall from the vine as they ripen...

I am letting them grow, so we will see. Do they change color when they ripen, or just wait until they fall off? :)

No, they do change colour. I have ones that turn a nice shade of yellow and another variety that is purple.

Nice post good
