Pilamalleus

CONSIDER GOLF FOR A LONG MOMENT. A golf ball has between 300 and 500 dimples, but 336 is a common number. Not just any number will do. The weight of the ball must not be greater than 1.620 ounces’ avoirdupois. The diameter of the ball must not be less than 1.680 inches. The size of the hole must be 4.25 inches in diameter and 4 inches in depth. Golf, pilamalleus, was thought to be created in Scotland. That ‘fore’ call; a major playing and spectator sport since the 1920s; the game of golf has provided lifelong recreational opportunities and enjoyment for millions of people. That long hall; the difficulty of using a stick with distances of 600 yards or less, all to get to a 4-inch hole.

Design of the clubs. To strike the ball you get three forms of clubs: woods, irons, and putters. Each club distinguished by shape and intended use; each stick with different lofts and lengths. The overall length of a club must be at least 18 inches and must not exceed 48 inches. For woods and irons, the measurement of length is taken when the club is lying on a horizontal plane and the sole is set against a 60-degree plane. The grip must be fixed to the shaft, they can consist of different materials all to help enable the player. Consider for a moment all the brand names that were and are still popular in golf: Titleist, TaylorMade, Nike, Footjoy, Ping, Mizuno, Bridgestone, Srixon, Odyssey, Izod, Pinnacle, Cobra, Callaway, Cleveland, Bushnell, Under Armour, Wilson Staff, Tour Edge, Puma, Golfsmith, and Scotty Cameron, each some of the best things that engineers of golf have invented.

Golf, the best, but most frustrating game to mankind. While most people are under the impression that they can play golf, or that it is easy. When they try to create that ‘moment of truth’ it more so often ends in failure. Golf is a well manufactured machine; all things must fit together to create a whole working system. Some people dedicate their whole life and careers to golf, spending hours and playing countless holes. Tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, knee pains, back problems, all this for the love of an ever changing game. You throw your club. You curse the game. You give up. You get back out there. Each time inconsistent but each time still great. You can love the game for what it is, or you can hate the player.
