It was a fork of Steem (code, didn't share the blockchain history but there was an airdrop) announced all the way back in 2016, a censorship resistant blockchain specifically for Russians.
It looks like it's still technically running but I don't see a post newer than 3 days old...

They chose not to adopt the developments that were made to Steem, starting with the linearization of the reward pool. Perhaps that is why they never took off, or perhaps the idea of a separate chain for Russian users was just a dead end from the start.
I think they started their own blockchain based on an EOS fork called Cyberway (I think the site was Cyberway.io) and launched a separate UI for it called commun/. @cryptoctopus brought it to my attention just the other day

I see one or two of the old crowd using it, but I will go where the community is and that is Hive these days. I do not have time to mess around on multiple platforms just for the chance of a few extra cents.
Network effects are where it's at. You have to do things very substantially better to be more compelling than a network with plenty of users.
Hive is still pretty small though. I hope some of the promotional projects will pay off. I have been creating a few accounts for new people.
Yeah, we have lost a lot of ground. I'm not convinced though that there are many in the crypto space that are both large active communities of actual users - particularly that fulfill the purpose Hive fulfills.
There have been studies recently that showed the vast, vast majority of transactions on the supposedly most active blockchains (eg. EOS) are nothing more than spam.
I think this is true. To get an accurate measure of a network's non-spam transactions, there has to be a sufficient "cost" to discourage spamming of mostly meaningless transactions. Or I guess, one could try to define metrics for what is a non-spam transaction, but that sounds like a hard problem.

why would you believe a small russian dpos xhain would be good investment? Its about having fun and helping snarg russian kids achjeve their dreams... its for hardcore coders and they simply need a russian hero or someone willing to invest and rism loosing out elsewhere.... vut golos IS valuable and couldbget russian state backing so anyone buying in BEFORE tjey gog a big NATIONAL investor woulr benefit IF they would makebthe case to russian school system fkr example to use golos tobgive russian students a hige head start , giving them a russian made blkckchain their whole nation cannhqvr fun coding with

I think Golos has no Downvotes, either. And is a lesson why you need them, even with things as flag wars etc. ;)
