It was an historic day in Greece

February 4th, 2018.

Finally the Greek nation is waking up from a long, deep sleep!

A well chosen pedestal, I might add. Well done, on rising above the crowd. Seems like it was a very important gathering... looks like Rodney Dangerfield was even there, trying to get respect. Looks pretty good for dead guy.

Of course, also glad to see that Steemit had representation at such a notable event.

Awaken from the slumber still
Are a million voices that will
in one accord come to speak
For it was the day of the Greek
And there you were tall and proud
And in grandeur spoke out loud
Delusioned or in a dream?
I think not you spoke of steen.
Proud are we how tall you stand
@onceuponatime in a Greek land

Inspired from your post. Thanks for the inspiration.

Here in Portugal they should do the same. It is necessary people make themselves heard.

Governments need to remember, at all times, that they exist to serve us. We do not exist to serve them.

That is true. It's a shame they never remember that.

I hope Philippine government will do as well. In as much as the new president is trying hard to really serve the people, but still it can't be denied that many of the people surrounding him exist not to serve but to be served!
Which is a very sad reality in my country.

Amazing ! Wish I could go in Greece. I heard there are a lot of beautiful spots there and awesome people. Greetings from the philippines!

The only thing that can stop you from visiting Greece is you giving up!

Yes I will start saving. I want to go to Santorini. I heard its a wonderful place @onceuponatime

Pretending I'm important is one of my favorite pastimes @onceuponatime;)

Well,m in your case you don't even have to pretend. You are great!

Almost as great as a smelly turd!

It is good to show the unison on the streets. It is even better to find communication alternatives like steemit.

That was one well executed punchline. It even made me go, Ha, out loud.

It is a great honor to have a reader who sticks around until the punchline LOL

I was I surprised to see Elton John there. He's standing behind you on right side of the first photo. Did you get a chance to say hello?

He asked me for your phone number. I wouldn't give it to him. I feel a little bit protective towards you and I don't think you're ready for that kind of lifestyle.

Thanks! You did the right thing. I don't think I'd ever be able to prepare myself for a life like that.

That's sexist!

Flying in private jets while I eat a delicious lobster dish is sexist now? No wonder so many people are protesting things.

Way to stand up for what you believe in my brother!

Good to see you there and making the event historic for the people of greece.

Thank you...steem on...

GGGGGREAT photos!!!!! Lord Vader the Greek-hearted ;)

PS. Representing Steemit and Loutraki! I represented Corinth and Wacky Facts he he

You are a real Greek...it is a big honor for us that you were in the demonstration..
Have a nice evening..

I was honored to be able to be a part of history!

Yes.. now you are a part of it..it really is too unfair for Greece that the government want to give the story.. a big history..

Rocking the Steemit jacket!!! Very cool! Heck yeah, when its our blog, the whole world is just the audience!!!!

I have documents!!! With all the appreciation and courage:

Oh my God! I thought I was anonymous.

For some reason I remembered a monologue from Shakespeare's comedy:
All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts...

It would have been more romantic if it was a tragedy.

That's so awesome, I love when people get united against their governments, our voice matter! we are the force!
The day we give in is the day we die!
I also participated in a massive protest in Bucharest several weeks ago! IMG-8582.JPG

You are so majestic in the last picture @onceuponatime!

I didn't expect you to care for politics. I wanna see how and if this will affect the Makedonia name game now. It would be easier for countries that have at least an Alexandria town to claim Makedonia as a Name. Anyway I don't do politics but I am sure the two countries will figure out what is best for both. Clearly the people are against it, and that is a risk politics are elected to handle, tl;dr lefts are burned elections are going to be sooner than expected this is a hot potato they will throw away and as "right" as possible.

For me it wasn't about politics. It was about the Greek people coming out of their torpor and reigniting their pride. This could be the prelude to a renaissance in the Greek economy.

A big day for Greece and you were there with us supporting our country! Thank you for loving this beautiful country maybe more than some greeks do! :))

What do you want to change with your protest? Your government pays attention to the voice of citizens?

We want to defend the right to the name "Macedonia".. Our governments in general do whatever they want but we shall not stay like this without doing anything.. We have a voice and we ought to let everyone know..

I sincerely wish that your people peacefully resolved these differences.

You are a Greek at heart :) @unceuponatime

p.s.: I was there too!!!

@onceuponatime

A friend of mine just crack my rib after sharing your post with him, he said.
Greece got into the mess it found itself because they killed a thinker (socrates) and a lot of people that would have salvaged the mess ran away for fear of being killed.

Lol. Just for the fun of it. We are glad greece is recuperating.
@fuhreresu

Nice having you here in Greece!
Get in and Enjoy every aspect of the Greek way... the authentic one... :)

very nice, I guess people wouldn't have noticed the real steem logo flag if you were walking with it.. Great that 1 million people supported you ;-) And that they also took a steem color flag to support you ;-)

Steem colors were everywhere!

Truly inspiring to see so many people come together to support each other in demanding change. What an event to be at where people are coming together to unite.
Yay to unity and yay to grandeur!

@onceuponatime,
You were there! Wow I have just seen this news! You represented STEEMIT! That's nice!
Well over 100,000 protesters from across Greece converged Sunday on Athens' main square to protest a potential Greek compromise in a dispute with neighboring Macedonia over the former Yugoslav republic's official name.

Cheers~

It is great to see the people rise and exciting to see YOU among them stirring the pot for freedom to set foot among these lands. May these grandeurs materialize for all!

Namaste :)

"So far has Athens left the rest of mankind behind in thought and expression that her pupils have become the teachers of the world, and she has made the name of Hellas distinctive no longer of race but of intellect, and the title of Hellene a badge of education rather than of common descent." Isocrates, Panegyricus, 50.

You are already more Greek than many of us. Thanks for fighting for our history :)

God Bless you all brother! God Bless Greece.

it is an honored seeing a steemians on the historical happening at Greece!

this is a good flag. Please give me permission to know What country flag is this?

Thans @onceuponatime

OK. You have permission :-)

All of us should have been there adding to the background noise so that it would turn into foreground noise! :P

I thought you were there, weren't you? Well, even if you were not there physically, I felt your presence!

My mother came, so a part of me was physically there, the rest was sending all its good thoughts and positive energy! ;)

I'm glad citizens have a consciousness and feel responsible for what is happening. I hope other Europeans will do the same.
Italians look completely numb to every thing and we used to be the country with very high civic participation. How sad.

I hope to be able to turn my attention to Italy in the future :-)

I don't think this nation will ever wake up. they keep making the same mistakes, just with a different, slight variation each time

Maybe they have never had an alarm clock like me before :-)

Seeing you write about Greece all the time makes me reeeeally want to go. lol :)

Great to see you there in this historic moment, @onceuponatime.
In the crowd, yet standing alone ! :) . Your grandiose delusion is endearing . :)

Greece has advanced all the time, but then went bankrupt, but today they wake up from a long sleep

Athens, Greece - Chants blared through speakers as a crane lifted a massive Greek flag above Syntagma Square, where Greeks converged from across the country to rally against negotiations over a name dispute between Athens and Skopje.
This is what I like in Greece and they do not keep their right

Μπραβο που πηγατε ...

Its history is wonderful

What a great day in Greece. People seem very excided. It’s about a time once upon a time!

Greece, the Greek capital of Athens, on Sunday witnessed a demonstration in which hundreds of thousands of people took part to affirm Greece's right to Macedonia alone. "The name of Macedonia is Greek and will remain Greek," demonstrators chanting "The name of Macedonia is Greek and will continue to be Greek," a rally called for by nationalist and religious organizations to protest, as well as populist and right-wing politicians and bishops from several parts of the country.
It is noteworthy that intensive efforts have been under way for two months, mediated by the United Nations, to settle the dispute since 1991 between Greece and the Republic of Macedonia, Republic

You come to this post, where many non-Greeks joined in to celebrate with the Greeks this wonderful day of the people of Greece as they dared to speak out against their government which is betraying them by their willingness to negotiate and allow another country to steal a name that is Greek.

What is your comment? Did you really think we need you to come here to teach us our own history? This was intended as a direct slap to all Greeks by naming the country with the very Greek name they are trying to steal from us - and to make certain you also benefit, you upvote yourself.

You have not demeaned the Greeks, as you obviously wanted, you have only shown yourself, for all to see the smallness of your spirit.

Good news sir congratulations
I love greece I hope to visit it soon
thanks for share
