So you are making it about her and not the actual issue? Why do you expect a child to solve this difficult problem?
Yes exactly! This is the out of the Box answer and the reason why she gets funded and pushed around. That poor girl gets dragged around the globe and pushed in front of cameras while people tell her that she will save the world.
Thanks for being a sheep and repeating the narrative that you've been told by the media for weeks. Btw. she is 16, even if she looks 12 - that is barely a child anymore.
Now, start thinking for urself, there are solutions everyone can discuss about. Centralized CO² reconversion, strikter rules for meat animal breeding, reafforestation - what also includes the already running economic conflicts with Venezuela and Brazil and reconstruction of the atmosphere (what we already did in the past). If we get these things done right, there is no climate change anymore.
But you will never see that puppet of a poor girl allowed to talk about that because mainstream media has no intention of de-escalation and her funders even less. Only on that very day when they are done with her, she will be allowed to go back to normal and have a life again
So let's hear your position, I'm curious.
I was concerned about these issues before she was born. There is no excuse for claiming ignorance given that climate and pollution have been widely discussed for decades. I'm interested in who you think is manipulating me. Obviously not big industry. Who is this mysterious force that is driving 'mainstream media', which seems to exclude Fox and other right wing outlets. What do they have to gain? I know a lot of powerful people want to destroy trust in journalism so they have full control of public thought. I am far less of a sheep than you imagine.
There are lots of things we could be doing. Changing agricultural policies would be a big start. Burning forests for monoculture is very destructive. We need more trees, not less, and I know the UK has a bad history of this. We also need policies that force industry to be cleaner. That may make some things more expensive, but a lot of those are artificially cheap when you consider the damage done.
Greta may be a little manipulated, but she is obviously smart and less of child than when she started her protests. Meanwhile a man-child is running the US and throwing tantrums because people are mean to him. We need more people who are prepared to speak out about issues that affect everyone.
You threw the Sheep argument at me, I want a fair discussion, I really do care. But that means we all need to be able to discuss everyone's arguments, disregarding who they are.
That's your President... what should I say, I'm from germany.
Now let's check reality:
And all of that on an international level...
I have my doubts that we see the real route already. What would you do?
You mentioned sheep first. I'm British, so not my president either, but his actions still affect us.
I stopped eating meat 25 years ago. I agree with taxing pollution and nuclear should be an option, but it is still incredibly expensive and has waste issues. We need better travel infrastructure so we need to drive less and cheap flights may need to be taxed more. Have incentives to get solar panels or electric cars. We've had those, but they have been reduced recently. Germany has been ahead of most countries on green issues for years. I saw this when I lived there in the late 80s. Individuals can only do so much, but we can influence the political direction. The UK only has one Green MP. We need to improve on that, but Brexit is a counterproductive distraction.
I will keep posting about these issues. I have a range of interests, but we need these discussions here as well.
Bavaria has over half a Million running domestical Solar Systems producing more than 100% of our energy during sunny day hours. Most of them were built in the last 10 years. A lot of People here buy a hybrid car to fuel it by themselves now. The energy price, in the long run, will be between 30-40Cents KW/H for 2020-2030. Sounds not too bad.
