Here are my updates on the Project Devil Gundam for today.
Today, I will be continuing my modification on the arm. The ideas is simple.
That is to connect the upper arm from Devil Gundam to the Neue Ziel skirt armor. I will be using pla plates, scribing pen, manual drills, hobby knifes and tamiya cement for this mod.
1. Trim the excess plastic
I'm going to keep every part that I trimmed/cut off because maybe I could find a use for it later. As you probably know by now I don't measure exactly how much I trimmed from the part. This was a guesstimate.
I want to trim as less as possible to get a strong connection with less gap as possible. So, it would be proportional arm for the Gundam.
Marked the plastic off with a pencil then trimmed using hobby knife. Note I didn't use nipper since it might stress the plastic and leave a white mark.
2. Get the pla plates ready
I used a thin pla plates (I think it was 0.2mm) to connect both parts.
3. Using scribing pen to mark the spot
Since I had to drill the pla plates so it will fit he polycap. I used scribing pen to mark the spot so the drill won't slip.
4. Drilling holes
Using manual drill I carefully create a hole with enough size to fit the polycap. Did it slowly since the pla plate was pretty thin.
5. Test fit with polycaps
6. Test fit with the other part
7. Copy paste and then another test fit
Since the last test fit looked okay so I went ahead and make a copy of the pla plate. Now, all I have to do is cement them together carefully so that the connection is strong and doesn't hinder the movement of the polycap.
And when that's done, I'm going to do the other arm. Just rinse and repeat really. Simple nice modification. I really learn a lot from this project so far.
