Do you allow people to give themselves Hivebits in a reply to their own comment? That would seem contrary to what it was intended to do. I have seen someone doing this.

Hi steevc, actually, this is exactly the purpose of Hivebits. I (@crrdlx) made LUV with the intent of giving it to others without any expectation of getting something in return. It's just giving freely. With HBIT, the idea is that your effort yields your reward. I called it hivebits because it's on Hive, but like Bitcoin, your proof of doing something is what earns you the HBIT. Every HBIT was "mined" by someone actually putting forth some effort. I've written to encourage folks to set up their own "mining page" just for the purpose of getting daily HBIT. 🙂
I thought it was partly to encourage comments, but if I reply to a comment I made then I get it all. Just thought it was an odd thing to do.
For Hivebits, the intent wasn't really as an "engagement token" or as a "tip token." To start, 100% went to the person doing the command. But, since the person being replied to got nothing, other than a notification which might be considered spam, I changed it so that HBIT now has a 90/10 split for the replier/person-replied-to. In this way, The post being replied to earns a small bit. So, I guess HBIT is a 10% engagement token, 90% you-earn-it token!
Success! You mined .9 HBIT & the user you replied to received .1 HBIT on your behalf. mine | wallet | market | tools | discord | community | <>< daily
