Health: Eating vegetables helps prevent breast cancer

in #health6 years ago

Millions of women around the world are taking hormone replacement therapies (HRT) combining estrogen and progestin to alleviate nasty symptoms when entering menopause. However, studies are concerned that this therapy may increase the risk of breast cancer. A new study of the University of Missouri-Columbia said Luteolin, a substance in green vegetables such as celery, broccoli, cilantro can alleviate this risk.

Scientists of the University of Missouri-Columbia have said that Luteolin may slow the progression of breast cancer cells when the hormone substitutes combine natural estrogen and synthetic progestin.

Hopefully from this study, with deeper studies, it is possible to offer a new drug that can help treat certain types of breast cancer that can be severe and difficult to treat. The drug can be used by injecting directly into the blood vessel.

At the same time, the research team recommends women to apply reasonable diet rich in green vegetables and fruit to prevent breast cancer. Luteolin is present in vegetables such as thyme, parsley, celery and broccoli.
