About three weeks ago, I posted about exercising on a regular basis. I made a training schedule for myself and I'm now exercising three times a week.
So, I bit the bullet and bought a sports watch to help me achieve the goals I set for myself and adhere better to my planned workouts.
I tried using different apps on my phone, but that wasn't really working for me (I also like to leave my phone at home when going for a run). With the watch, it's really easy. I can put a workout together on my phone or computer and then upload it to the watch.
It also gives all sorts of stats and features integrated GPS/GLONASS navigation.
And when I get back home, it uploads automatically to my phone and to Strava. Pretty cool!
Tomorrow it's time for Training #4.

This looks cool!
Does it come with a bike mount or do you need to buy it separately?
The bike mount is not included, unfortunately, but I think it's not really expensive. You'd need to get a chestband if you want to also measure your heartrate when using the bike mount ofcourse. Wrist HR is built-in.
I suppose it is also possible to connect with some cadence sensor.
I'm looking for something to have on both bike and for hiking. And as far as I've checked some Garmin model would be it. Plus you get quality with Garmin that's sure.
Yes it feels decent and also pretty easy to work with. It should be compatible with all sorts of Bluetooth and ANT+ sensors, including cadence.
I started running 4 years ago and got the Garmin 620. I figured I'd feel like an idiot if I bought an expensive watch, wore it a few times and then let it gather dust in a drawer. It worked. The watch barely lasts for my short runs so I'm in the market for a new watch.
Right before seeing your post I was looking at watches. I haven't researched Suunto yet but am considering the Garmin Forerunner 235, 735XT and 935 (the latter 2 related to the Fexnix 3/5. What led you to the Fenix ?
I was actually looking at the Suunto (I already own a Suunto dive watch), but don’t really like the Movescount software. Plus the Garmin has better Strava integration (from what I’ve read).
As for Garmin, the Forerunner 935 is internally exactly the same, but as I’d like to use it as a regular watch too, I preferred the looks of the Fenix.
EDIT: to add to that, it was recommended by a friend that owns a Fenix 3.
Good post sir...
I follow you
I love running as well. Thanks for sharing.
