I watched a brilliant film yesterday called, Food Matters which is an important source of information about nutrition. The documentary discusses hoe to prevent and treat diseases and how to be a healthy: body, mind and soul. This controversial documentary explores and opens your eyes to the food problems most of us have when it comes to eating right as well as our government is more concerned about mass producing unhealthy food to keep the pharmacies in business.

In Western Medicine we are great at treating TRAUMA. Then when we go to the doctor for a common cold or flu or other minor illness he gives us a pill for every ill. Good Health doesn’t make good money for all involved.

Have you ever thought about how old your food is once it gets to the SuperMarket? Most food on the shelf is at least a week old and lost at least 40% of its nutritional value. I haven’t even mentioned how food is genetically modified in many cases.

Have you stopped to think about the Soil, Air and Water that is used to produce it. Soil requires 52 minerals for food to grow properly and we are not giving the soil what it needs. The story of how our soil has become virtually devoid of essential minerals is one of commerce, commerce and greed. Although these details concern American farming conditions, their approach to fertilisation is now repeated in most countries in the West.

Have you ever thought about how long it takes that 8 oz steak you ate off the grill July 4th to digest? Or the greasy french fries you eat from a fast food restaurant? It takes massive amounts of energy for body to break down the steak and fries. Vegetarians tend to have faster transit times than non-vegetarians, according to a study published in the “British Journal of Nutrition” in 1981. In this study, the distribution of transit times for non-vegetarians was between 31 hours and 96 hours. The transit times for vegetarians ranged from 27 hours to 54 hours. The average transit time for the vegetarian group was nearly 24 hours faster than for non-vegetarians. According to the textbook “Biochemistry,” fattier foods send signals to your stomach to slow emptying. This is because fat is a relatively complex molecule that requires larger periods to digest than, for example, carbohydrates. Animal products such as meat, dairy and eggs typically contain higher amounts of fats than fruits, vegetables and grains.!

The American Values are inverted. We rather spend more money on a new house or new car than to invest in buying better quality food and invest in our families health.

There is a stigma that Vitamins are bad and you may even go to a doctor and they will tell you they don’t believe in Vitamins. We have to ask ourselves do we want someones beliefs or do we want facts? Vitamins had a bad rap for a while. In 20 years allegedly vitamins have caused 10 deaths in 20 years.essential-nutrients-of-life.gif

Thank you so much @lenasveganliving

There were 500,000 Americans who died after taking a prescription drug in 2015, In 20 years this will be 10,000,000 Americans dead from prescribed drugs. According to cases reported to the US National Poison Data System. By comparison, no deaths were recorded for vitamins, minerals or nutritional supplements.

In total, 443,900 deaths from prescription medication were reported to one of the US’s poison centres, with analgesics—or pain-killers—being the deadliest poison.

There were no deaths recorded from anyone taking a mineral supplement, such as calcium, magnesium, zinc or iron, or an amino acid or herbal, such as blue cohosh, Echinacea, ginkgo biloba, kava, valerian or St John’s wort.

“If nutritional supplements are allegedly so dangerous, as the US’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the news media and even some physicians still claim, then where are the bodies?”

Only 6% of physicians receive formal training in nutrition in the US. We all seem to walk around the elephant in the room which is managing and talking about nutrition. Humans need about 2 dozen nutrients to nourish the body properly and no one is getting educated in these and we are now suffering from deficiencies.

There needs to be a new paradigm of boosting health. Yes Mr. Smith may be taking is 60 milligrams a day of Vitamin C but because high stress and adrenalin the body breaks it down and causes heart disease.

Why are we not talking about the good chemicals that are released into the body from EXERCISE and MEDITATION? We are treating chronic problems and symptoms and not changing the root CAUSE? Cardiovascular disease is a lifestyle disease and meat, fat, starch and processed food are killing us. Failure to eat right is causing 1/2 the deaths from heart problems. People need to change the way they eat and lifestyle vs going first to the drug route. In fairness, no drugs, than there is no profit in our capitalism society.

Vitamins and minerals is what the body needs and its amazing how quickly the body can heal itself. One of the biggest influences on the condition of our health is the food we eat. You have likely heard it said, “We are what we eat.” This statement is in fact not true – “WE ARE WHAT WE GET FROM WHAT WE EAT”. This is true for both the good and bad that we eat. But what is “good” food and what is “bad” food.
