WHAT IS SMOKING?

Smoking is a practice in which a substance is burned and the resulting smoke breathed in to be tasted and absorbed into the bloodstream. Most commonly the substance is the dried leaves of the tobacco plant which have been rolled into a small square of rice paper to create a small, round cylinder called a " cigarette ". Smoking can be dated to as early as 5000 BCE, and has been recorded in many different cultures across the world.Smoking is one of the leading causes of
preventable death globally.
Among the diseases that can be caused by smoking are vascular stenosis , lung cancer,heart attacks and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease . Smoking during pregnancy may cause ADHD to a fetus. Smoking itself it's very harmful to the human in general, it's effect on the body system cannot be over emphasied. We will be talking on some parts that can be dragistically affected;

THE HEART

Cigarette smoking is a widespread and significant as a risk factor that the surgeon gene has called it"the leading preventable cause of disease and deaths. Cigarette smoking increases the risk of coronary heart disease by itself. When it acts with other factors, it greatly increases the risk. Smoking increases blood pressure, decreases exercise tolerance and increases the tendency for blood to clot. Smoking also increases the risk of recurrent coronary heart disease after bypass surgery. Cigarette smoking is the most important risk factor for young men and women. It produces a greater relative risk in persons under age of 50 than in those over 50.

THE BRAIN

Smoking is hazardous to human beings. Right from brain to toe, smoking wrecks havoc to the smoker. The effects of smoking on brain are highly dangerous.
The brain, the center for mood and conscious thoughts, makes thinking and feeling possible. It controls the voluntary movements and regulates digestion and breathing. So, the brain controls the conscious thoughts as well as the unconscious body processes. The brain is connected to the heart and the lungs through arteries. These arteries supply oxygen and other chemicals to the brain. So, when a person smokes cigarette, the chemicals inhaled are sent to the brain.

THE LUNGS

Your lungs can be very badly affected by smoking. Coughs, colds, wheezing and asthma are just the start. Smoking can cause fatal diseases such as pneumonia, emphysema and lung cancer. Smoking causes 84% of deaths from lung cancer and 83% of deaths from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
COPD, a progressive and debilitating disease, is the name for a collection of lung diseases including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. People with COPD have difficulties breathing, primarily due to the narrowing of their airways and destruction of lung tissue. Typical symptoms of COPD include: increasing breathlessness when active, a persistent cough with phlegm and frequent chest infections.
Whilst the early signs of COPD can often be dismissed as a ‘smoker’s cough’, if people continue smoking and the condition worsens, it can greatly impact on their quality of life. You can slow down the progression of the disease and stopping smoking is the most effective way to do this.

THE MOUTH AND TEETH

Smoking causes unattractive problems such as bad breath and stained teeth, and can also cause gum disease and damage your sense of taste.
The most serious damage smoking causes in your mouth and throat is an increased risk of cancer in your lips, tongue, throat, voice box and gullet (oesophagus). More than 93% of oropharyngeal cancers (cancer in part of the throat) are caused by smoking.
The effects of smoking can't be over emphasied but it can for sure be reduced if not stopped totally.

Funny how it is clearly written Smoking Kills and the fact that smokers are liable to die young and we still endorge in it. Prevention they is say is better than curse. To be for warned is to be for harmed.
WHY ONE SHOULD STOP SMOKING

Stopping smoking is the single best thing you can do for your heart health, and the good news is that the risk to your heart health decreases significantly soon after you stop.

By quitting you’ll be improving your own health by dramatically reducing your risk of coronary heart disease, stroke and a variety of cancers. You’ll feel better, and have more money to spend on other things that you enjoy.
