Definition:
Hydrothorax is medical term that describes the condition of having an excessive amount of fluids inside the thoracic cavity, which may lead to serious symptoms like shortness of breath and coughing.
Hemothorax: hemothorax is a term that describes the presence of blood accumulation in pleural cavity.
Treatment Procedure :
In hydrothorax cases, doctors perform thoracentesis and pleural fluid analysis, in order to get the fluids outside the thoracic cavity and to determine cause of the disorder.
the thoracentesis is done by inserting a needle or a tube in the midaxillary line in the eighth, ninth or tenth intercostal space.
After all fluid is drained, the needle site should be covered with a bandage.

- pneumothorax
- bleeding
- infections
