Why stroke patients should be given physioterapy ?
Stroke occurs because of problems in the blood vessels in the brain either due to blockage or rupture of blood vessels in the brain.
This is what causes problems such as weakness in the limbs, difficulty speaking & swallowing, facial muscle weakness, etc.
Indeed stroke patients can gradually perform daily activities such as sitting, standing or walking by itself. But, they do it with the movement of compensation so it takes extra effort to do simple things though.
This is where the role of physiotherapist, how the patient can move with optimal energy and minimize the movement of compensation that may arise.
