If you're anything like me, you’ve experienced that moment when you clean out your pantry and find a ton of foods that have gone way past their expiration dates.

It can be a bummer to have to throw all of that goodness away.. Yet, it's better to be safe than sorry right?

Surprisingly, there are some foods that truly never have to meet the trash or recycling bin.

That’s right, these three foods have an incredibly long shelf life.

Ready to find out what they are?

1. Soy Sauce

What’s even more incredible than the taste of soy sauce is the fact that it can last up to three years after being opened.

Also, if you choose to store it in an unopened airtight container (unopened) in the fridge, it can last forever.

2. Dried Kidney Beans

The shelf life of dried kidney beans is about to blow your mind.

A study done by Brigham Young University discovered that after storing kidney beans for at least 30 years, the beans were still okay to eat if necessary.

That’s pretty incredible!

That being said, if you ever find yourself in an emergency situation and need some instant food, kidney beans are the way to go!

3. Rice

As long as rice is stored properly, it can also last over 30 years.

You are probably wondering what proper storing conditions are for rice now, right?

Well, as long as you store it at 40 degrees Fahrenheit or less, and you keep it in a jar or a plastic container, your rice will pretty much never expire.

Not only does it still taste good, it also keeps its original nutritional value throughout all of those years. Pretty amazing!

These are three of the most common foods that have an incredibly long shelf life.

The chances of these food products expiring are slim, so stock up for emergencies!
