What about Soviet "equality and fraternity"?

in #history5 years ago

One of the favorite slogans in Soviet times, which were often written on banners during demonstrations, these words were on the roofs of houses, was: "freedom-equality-fraternity".In words, the Soviet state declared these conditions for all Soviet citizens. As a person who is fascinated by history, I have always been interested in how the Soviet state put its words into practice many years ago during Stalin’s time.modern admirers of Stalin in Russia claim that Stalin spent his whole life in one military french. Тhey forget to remind about a huge number of state "dacha"s for him, staff of cooks and guards, and the Kremlin as a palace.

Here is the area in which I live is still partly built up with houses built more than 70 years ago. For the most part, the house is a collapsing two-story wooden barracks in which there is no water supply and the toilet is one common on the street for two barracks.

But one two-storey residential building in the whole of this space I was interested and just recently picked up the girls from this house, I learned the history of this building.

This house was built in 1947 on an individual project. Тhe house was intended for living in it by the chief commanders of the nearby River Merchant Port. So what did the modest officials of the Soviet river merchant fleet get?

Тo this house, the only one for the whole quarter, hot and cold water supply was supplied, the house was connected to the central sewerage line. There were only two and three bedroom apartments. Еach apartment on the second floor has two balconies.

Тhe safety of the house and the quality of the brickwork makes me think that this house was built by Japanese prisoners of war, which were very widely used in the construction in the Far East at that time ("famous Japanese quality"). On the territory adjacent to the house there was a small garden in which beautiful trees and flowers grew. The territory of the house itself was fenced from the surrounding area with a fence more than 2 m high, at the entrance to the territory there was a guard.

This is how it was implemented for some in practice the principle of freedom equality and fraternity.

Hard to believe there are idiots around these days who admire Stalin.

in fact, there are quite a lot of them and it is sometimes difficult to convince them.

Young people?

among young people under the age of 20, I did not notice this, but people aged 30 years and older are much more prone to this, as it seems to me, mental disorder, belief in "strong leader" and "firm hand." But this, as it seems to me, because the judicial system in Russia is currently inoperative and totally corrupt, here are some that seek solace in dreams from the past. Probably, they represent themselves in no way less than a colonel of the NKVD in a large office in Moscow, and not a starving collective farm worker who does not have a passport and is forced to work in the literal sense not for money, but for trudoden

Yeah probably, some good points. They're quick to forget that Stalin sent millions to their death for fabricated reasons or no reason at all, just in case. The NKVD colonel would likely end up there too, after his time was up.

Yeah, Some people living in Moscow or St. Petersburg from their YouTube channels claim that repression is fiction. Pompously lounging in the studio, and not in a tent in a snowdrift under the tree, somewhere near the places in the Far East where I live. Here the prison-camp system of Russia as it began to develop during the last emperor, and then only grew with some pauses in development. For example, on the walls of a prison isolator located near my house (a few blocks away) there is a proud banner that the prison has been here on this place since 1886. That is, they are just modestly silent that this is the oldest enterprise in the city.))
