Come for the money, stay for the community use to be the popular slogan for the outside World. But once you are in, you find yourself in a deep state of anarchy, politicking, Backstabbing, Ass-licking, Bribery all similar to the Roman Empire. And what happened to that Roman empire in 27 BC - 476 AD? A republic that rose from dysfunctionality into a conquering Empire.
Though different tribe and Emperor Soldiers still lasted for another millennium, what actually leads to the ruin of the Great Rome?
WEAKENING THE ROMAN LEGIONS- DRAINING THE REWARD POOL(NO SIGNIFICANT NEW INVESTORS)
Referred to as the envy of ancient civilization was Rome's Military power. In it's decline, some of the emperors had hired mercenaries that rose to super powers "The Barbarians"; these were fierce warriors but with little loyalty to the Empire. Same with some very good and content creators names withheld, with post intervals of approximately 30 minutes making daily total tally to around 10 to 15 articles all with huge payouts depriving other authors of some of this deserving rewards.#
If this continues, it is going to crumble steem/Steemit just like the Barbarians who had earned military powers while serving Rome sacked the Great city.
INVASION BY BARBARIANS- STEEMIT GREEDY AUTHORS
The 300 Barbarians left a huge dent on Rome and it's mighty army, it crumbled their moral. In 410 AD the Visigoth King Alaric sacked the Roman City. These are typical examples of some authors with thousands in pending payout from the reward pool and still publishing day and night just t get more and never get satisfied or consider Newbies and new influx of users.
ECONOMIC TROUBLES AND OVER-RELIANCE ON SLAVE LABOR- STEEM FLUCTUATING PRICE AND LIMITED TRADING EXCHANGE OPTIONS
Incessant wars and overspending on Military with severe oppressive taxation which resulted in a sour inflation and created a huge gouge between the poor and the Rich. Steem/SBD rising and fall in price and just few trading options available raises eye-browses. Even Exchanges like Changelly had disabled the trading of steem and SBD. Only Steemians with huge chest of steem could afford some of this Exchange transaction fees.
THE RISE OF EASTERN EMPIRE- EMERGENCE OF SIMILAR COMMUNITY LIKE STEEMIT
Immediately empreor Diocletian Divided Rome into two Empires; Western and Eastern- City of Milan and Constantinopole Respectively in the present day; The fate of Rome was sealed. Different interfaces is good for steem but imagine when one interfaces rewards you better than for using it. Busy,Utopian, Zappl all have supports in upvotes, why can't steemit do the same?
Dozens of similar sites like steemit are now emerging rewarding publishers e.g Peptribe, Nexus, Ong social etc.
GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION AND POLITICAL INSTABILITY- CORRUPT WHALES/DOLPHINS AND CORRUPT STEEMAINS
In the conflicts of moral on steemit, i'd say am not alone. Sheer size of Rome made it difficult to Govern, even though on steemit the user-base is not up to 1 million users yet, the platform is in anarchy.
Whales tipping, Vote Buying, Dolphin summoning are the similar corrupt practices as in the days of Rome, which has made some steemians lost trust in the community and had left.
Hopefully, the Roman Empire illustration of Steemit is not deemed offensive but something needs to be done for the community to remain standing in the closest future!
I like your Historical point of view Juxtaposing Steemit with The Roman Empire, but there is Hope for Steemit and very soon once SMT is implemented a lot of things might changed in the listed atrocities...
PS; I liked the Roman Analogy my friend.
Tnx brother, i learnt so much from you.
This is an explosive article because it is enlightening. Never knew anything like this was already happening on a platform so young. We are all stakeholders here, and we should speak up, against such anomalies. Thank you for sharing.
Hopefully it all stop soon, that's if it's gonna surpass Facebook.
I actually have not realised that Steemit could be struggling with such issues, but damn you may have made an important point here.
Btw, the Roman analogy was very effective :D
Thanks for Reading my blog dear @kinestatic
It is always a challenge when a system such as steemit comes in place, people will always want to cut corners. I hope and pray that such activities will be checked ASAP before they begin to affect the system.
Thanks @the-commentator for this point you raised.
@largerben
It's affecting it already, i hope it stops fast.
