Happy Day for me here. Got some fine fish to make one of my all time favourites... Ceviche. Yummy Yummy Stuff, i asure you!

This awesome recipe came to me on a travel visiting Costa Rica. Carlos invited me to visit his family and there his Mom made us Ceviche... wow, i was blown away with what my taste-buds had to handle. That was INSTANT LOVE!!!

Since then i regularly try to find the right fish and the time to prepare me some of Carlos-Moms-Ceviche. Here we go:

The Ceviche Bunwich

To start with i made some Wheat- & Buckwheat buns... fifty-fifty on the flour. For some recipe you may visit this "Love for Bread is real"-blog

Ceviche de "Carlos Mama"

  • White fish with firm flesh
  • Spring onions
  • Tomatoes
  • Koriander
  • Lime or lemon juice

Cut everything into more or less equal-sized cubes and mix with the lime juice. Then leave in the refrigerator until the fish is "cooked through". I usually make the recipe for the next day. But it also works in a shorter time.

And as for the fish: it's not always easy to find the "right" one. The kind used in Costa Rica is not available here, even though I live by the sea.

The "best" choice I have found here is sole or monkfish, but both are "devilishly" expensive. For this reason, I mainly use hake or cod. But as I said, most fish with white firm flesh are suitable.

Have fun making yummy food and hopefully we'll see/read soon about the sandwich deliciousness out of your kitchen.

Now it's your turn. Please, show us your creations, to fill this library of delights with all the deliciousness you could possibly imagine and to make me go to my kitchen for another bready delight. The "rules" are as easy peasy as making a sandwich...

How and what to post

  1. SOMETHING with BREAD - posted directly into the community
  2. MADE BY YOURSELF - original content only
  3. ONE QUALITY PICTURE - of your delight at least
  4. A SHORT HOW TO recipe of it
  5. BEWARE:
  6. If it seems that these simple rules are not followed, the post will be muted!
  7. If you miss twice, you're out and your account gets muted!
  8. Crossposts WILL be muted!

Now, there is always the NRWE (No Rule without Exception) Situation.

"Pizza", which to me actually counts as an open-sandwich, will be accepted here as long as it is home made from A to Z. I personally fold these baked dough patties in half and voilà, a sandwich is created. You have to admit, Pizza offers one of the best hot sandwiches ever - the Classic "Calzone"... Yummy Yummy!

Also Bread, since it's the most important part of a sandwich. That's why everything around a home made bread is most appreciated. Always!
