Yesterday, I opened the pomelo my Dad gave us a few weeks ago.
Usually, I enjoyed it simply, by sprinkling it with a bit of salt, and that's it.
While I was peeling it, a guy passed by and offered smoked fish to my hubby.
We bought some, so I thought, "What if I add this to the pomelo instead of just salt?" 🤔
It sounds a bit unusual, I know... Smoked fish and pomelo.
But trust me, I'm so glad I discovered this combo.
The smoky flavor, the citrus, the saltiness... Ahhhhh 🤤 perfect! 👌🏼
So now, join me as I make the pomelo extra special, or should I say... level up.
And if you'd like to try it too, I'll be happy to share the recipe.
Let's start with the ingredients:
• 1/2 pomelo
• 3 smoked fish (tinapa)
• 1/2 red onion
• 2 tbsp vinegar
• 1 tsp sugar
• salt and pepper to taste
• optional: toasted peanuts

Steps:
• I started by preparing the pomelo, separating the segments one by one, removing the membranes until I got the juicy pieces.

• Next, in a bowl where I added the pomelo, I mixed it with vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, and thinly sliced red onion. I tossed it, tasted it, and adjusted until it matched exactly how I wanted it.

• After that, it was time for the flaked smoked fish. I poured it in, mixed it, and let the flavors come together.

• For the final touch, I topped it with crushed toasted nuts.

And just like that, my leveled-up pomelo snack was done.
Actually, I tried eating it with rice. But nope, it didn't quite click. So my honest suggestion is: enjoy it as a snack.
That's exactly the best way to enjoy every flavor of it. 😋
Until my next delicious mix...
Thanks for the visit! Have a lovely day. Buh-bye. 💗🌸
