I don't understand how all that really works. I would have thought that if there is a copyright claim on a YouTube clip (as there is on most of mine) any money to be made would go back to the artist that made the claim. The fact that someone is learning, playing and sharing the song would be a good thing.

I think you can lose any potential income on a video, but I never made a cent there anyway. Strikes are more serious as they can shut down your account after 3 (I think). That put me off putting covers on Youtube. I get more engagement via Hive/3speak anyway. I think it's more about lawyers than artists generally.
