I do not claim to have to talents of a certain multi-instrumentalist, but I have played this song at a lot of pub sessions. I just never really tried to solo on it before.
I figured out that major pentatonic works pretty well, so I set up a loop to back me up. I thought I would do the whole song, but my microphone is a bit quiet. You can skip to the solo three minutes in. I got lost on my pedals a bit on the transition.
It is just a little fun to amuse myself and I was overdue for a #TeleTuesday post. The Purple One did play a Telecaster, but his was not a Fender either. I am not mentioning his name as I know he used to try and take down unauthorised videos. Maybe his legal team still do that, but 3speak may be beyond their reach.

I listen to a guitar podcast called 'Sharpen that Axe' where they did a whole episode on Prince and his guitaring. They said that since he passed away a lot more of his content is making it's way onto YouTube and other platforms and not being taken down. Nice job btw!
Cheers. I did once have a 'strike' on Youtube for a cover of a Supertramp song. Not that I was making anything from it. It seems to be pretty random as there have been whole albums posted there without permission. Depends on how active their lawyers are.

I don't understand how all that really works. I would have thought that if there is a copyright claim on a YouTube clip (as there is on most of mine) any money to be made would go back to the artist that made the claim. The fact that someone is learning, playing and sharing the song would be a good thing.
I think you can lose any potential income on a video, but I never made a cent there anyway. Strikes are more serious as they can shut down your account after 3 (I think). That put me off putting covers on Youtube. I get more engagement via Hive/3speak anyway. I think it's more about lawyers than artists generally.

It's debatable which of us is braver ;) I am amazed nobody has complained about my singing, but I will keep doing it for now. It was not something I really did until a few years back, but now I must have performed in front of hundreds of people with nothing being thrown at me.

It takes experience to know what works. A lot of it is about learning patterns, but you have to listen to work out what could sound good.
