GibSunday - More than a feeling

in Guitar3 years ago (edited)

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

This theme was started by @sketch.and.jam for playing something on Gibson-type guitars. The closest I have is my Gordon Smith GS2 that I bought in 1985.

I was watching Paul Gilbert doing a demo of his new signature pedal and he played a little of this song. That inspired me to have a go.

I will admit I have by no means mastered it. There are a few parts I am not sure of, but the chorus is fun and I tried to do the solo. I was not sure where ot come in on some of the verse parts.

The backing track site I used to use seems dead now, but I found one on Youtube.

I did a couple of takes and this was the better one. Enjoy my gormless expressions. I was playing through a Zoom G3X on a Marshall model with a real Ibanez Tube Screamer for the noisy parts.

Rock on!

This song always reminds me of when I used to work a construction job. This seems to be always be playing on a radio somewhere on a jobsite lol. Nice upbeat tune to build a house to.

I've heard it so many times, but not tried to play it until now. I keep challenging myself.

It has quite a variety of notes and rhythms to it, some tricky bends in the solo parts.

I like a few bends and this has plenty. I missed a few of the trills in the solo, but otherwise it's not too fast or technical.

I didn't check, but I had a feeling he played one. Scholz developed a lot of electronic gear to get his sound, so I wasn't going to match that exactly. I remember ads for his Rockman in the old magazines.

I'll have to lookup what kind of guitar they played that song on. Maybe it was a gibson...

There has already been too much ENGAGE today.

Great cover! I've been listening to watching a Scrubs re-watch podcast recently and I remembered this from the show.

It is a great song. Not sure I could sing it. Not watched Scrubs in a while.

I have always loved that song! Need to learn it actually, cheers for reminding me. Tube screamers are great aren't they for a real natural growl?

Rawk on Stevo!! :0D

I found some tab and had a quick look at a lesson for the solo. For a song like this there are loads of lessons. Some do the verse bit on acoustic as was probably on the record.

I have the Tube Screamer and a Soul Food boost. The former just sounded better for this. Need more pedals!

Oooo, cheers. I will have a look at that.

Can never have enough pedals, in saying that though, I can't find a box of mine. It's doing my head in wondering where they are!

It's just combining Gibson and Sunday for fun. We had Straturday and Tele Tuesday for Fender guitars. Just an excuse to play.
