Hello Hiveans Out There !

abc.jpg

Welcome to Hive !

It finally has happened. Since Friday, March 20th, Hive went online. As this is still quite new for all of you I thought that I will give you some guidelines and information about some of the features that are available here and help you to get along better.

Which Frontends can I use !

The Standart Frontend of the Hive blochchain is the one used on https://hive.blog/.

Hive.Blog

But there are of course also other frontend, as they were before. The Steempeak analogon here on Hive can be found here: https://peakd.com.

PeakD

Just look up both of them and deside which one suits you better. It actually does not matter where you are login in and from which frontend you are posting from as it will always yield the same results. But always remember to Only Use Your Posting key for every day blogging and keep all your keys safety. Do not tell them to anybody and even keep an offline copy on an USB-stick or print it on a piece of paper too.

If you are using the new PeakD fronend you can also use the comfortable way for login in via Peacklock, a super fast method utilizing a 5-digit code, or via Hive Keychain, a super secure plugin for your Firefox or Chrome browser.

Do you need a list of all your keys ?

I do not know if you knew this already, but there is an easy way to obtain a List Of All Your Keys, so that you can easily store them safely away or print them out. If you are login into the Hive.Blog frontend and enter your Owner Key, you will get this message here and can comfortably download all your keys as a .pdf data file 😎 .. thank you @theterminal for showing me this trick once. You can easily miss this feature as you kind of never use this key for anything.

Change your keys !

There is another thing that I would highly Recommend To you if you are planing to go on using Hive from now on and not Steem anymore. Change Your Keys ! Why do I recommend it ? As you know there are two chains out there now. And actually both of them are using the same set of keys ! I actually do not want to keep the same for both of the chains, especially not as one of them is now centralized and owned by a guy that is known for censoring posts as he wishes. Remember that he has also the power now to do whatever he wants with your account 😱

It all still plays by the old rules !

You will directly figure out that nothing has changed to much after switching to the Hive. Your Connections (Followers/Following) are still the same, as well as the communities you have subscribed too. Even your Profile is still the same. The standard payout is set to 50/50 (Hive/HP) and the payout period is 7 days long as usual. But just some advice. There is still Voting Mana in usage. It refills up to 20% per day. So it would be an good advice to do not use more then 20% A Day and to keep it above 80% to maximize your voting impact.

One thing that also stayed the same, which you do not may be aware of, is that you are still voting for the Same Witnesses As Before. So if you are interested in changing yours go and visit the voting page at https://peakd.com/me/witnesses

Vote Your Witnesses

But One Thing That Has Changed Now, and changed totally, is the switch from the Steem to the New Hive coin. Directly from the beginning you have those Hive coins in your wallet and can use them as you wish to. Thereby they are exactly mirrored from what you had before in your Steem wallet. So if your has 10 STEEM, 5 SBD, and 1000 SP, your now have 10 HIVE, 5 HBD, and 1000 HP. If you want to trade those, the next chapter will be very interesting for you 😁

Using Ionomy to trade Steem for Hive tokens !

As you are holding both, Steem as well as Hive tokens, in two different wallets you maybe interested in how to convert your old Steem into the new Hive coin. Of course you are still able to use both chains separately, but If you are like me, you may be more interested in combining both coin stakes into one big stake that you are working with. I have to admit that doing all those exchanges for the first time can be a bit confusing and overwhelming, but for those, who have absolutely no clue how to do this, I have linked an amazing step-by-step guide on how to trade Steem for Hive tokens using Ionomy. This guide was published by @naturalmedicine 2 days ago and is very clearly structures and easily understandable guideline. I actually did it myself this way.

Thank you for this amazing guide @naturalmedicine ! This is awesome and for sure can help many Hiveans out which have troubles in converting their Steem to Hive at the moment 👍

Are you familiar with the auto-voting system ? Hive actually implemented an Auto-voter recently and we are all free to use it now. You can find it here: https://hive.vote/.

THE TEERMINAL is also present for you on the Hive, but not only here, they are also still supporting every single Steemian out there.

"We like to help, so with the knowledge we have obtained in the past 3 years, we want to help as many people as possible. Our main focus is and will always be HELP" @theterminal .. 😍

The Terminal

There is another initiative here on Hive that I would like to bring close to you as I absolutely love them, The Terminal:

THE TERMINAL DISCORD

It is a great location for LEARNING ABOUT STEEM, Discord, and Hive-related communities, full of nice people that you may ask if you need ASSISTANCE, with nearly everything ^^ You will find documents to assist you, a place to learn and practice, and find out about the many opportunities to form CONNECTIONS with other Hiveans.

It also host the REDFISH RALLY, a funny challenge for all those that are new here to the world of Steem.

The Terminal also hosts the HEYHAVEYAMET project by @heyhaveyamet, which introduces all new Hiveans on a daily basis, so that you don't have to search for them ^^ So why not joining us in the THE TERMINAL DISCORD? .. You will not regret it ^^

Nice one! Hive wallet is still not working - is it me or is it global?

Just found out I can't change my password - reads a similar error to the one when I click wallet. Any ideas?

Oh yes, I looked it up @orestistrips .. The wallet actually worked a day ago, but now it seems to be an error. As far as I know there is still a little clash between the nodes of Steem and those of Hive, kind of like a machine war ^^ .. I assume we just have to be patient for now and sit it out 🤣

Friend @adalger you have resolved many doubts and I will take your advice, mainly to change the keys. It is true, we come from another network that has all our data. Better safe than sorry. I will also do the change from Steem to hive because there is no one to change the steem, that was my reward and it is still mine. Thank you very much again for so much important information.

Changing the keys is really a good idea 🔑 .. I am not sure what the old network can do with them exactly, but you are right, better safe than sorry 😁 .. Glad to have you here with us on hive too 👍.. I am glad there was some helpful information in here for you.. Read you around @isabelpena 😜

Friend @adalger also wanted to ask you what is the keychain that peakd asks me to be able to register? Thanks in advance for your help.

The Keychain is an add-on for your chrome or firefox browser.. A small button will appear after installation in your browser toolbar.. From there you can directly log into you hive account.. But I actually don't use it or have tested it so far.. I prefer the peaklog with the 5-digit password 😉

Thanks for your prompt response and help

Thank you @adalger this post has been very helpful to me 😊

I am glad that I could help you out here 😁 always a pleasure !

Thanks @adalger it was a great help but my question still remains i don't understand this Hive token and what it's value really is i am lost with that does is it exist on the market ??

Heu there @bigsambucca.. The Hive token is a pegged coin, just like bitcoin, litecoin, steem and ithers are too.. It was initially created a week ago, so it is a super new coin. Therefore it is not yet listed everywhere in the exchanges. Ionomy, the exchange that I mentioned above already listed this new coin. They have both, hive and steem and all the other usual ones like btc. Also blocktrades offers exchanges of all those coins now.. The current value of the hive coin is about 30 cents now, so double the value of steem at the moment ^^ .. It is just a question of time when hive coin will be listed elsewhere too.. You can also look up the hive coin at goingecko already.. I hope that answers your question.. If not, feel free to ask as much ss you want 😉

Thank you @adalger for taking your time to answer my questions it has been very helpful and i do understand it more now. Thanks again and stay safe 👍

Good job, @adalger
Not only for new users!

You are welcome ^^ I thought this might be highly useful 😉

You´re right, @adalger.
It's highly useful
Resteem

A good guide for everybody
Thanks for sharing, @adalger

Hey there @ctime , @mmmmkkkk311, and @mariuszkarowski !!

Can you please tell me why you guys decided to downvote my post by nearly 5 $ ?! This is not a normal downvote, but obvious one that should cause some serious damage.

I do not suppose it because of an sbi upvote of only 0.37 $, because you would then just downvote me by more than 1000 % of the received upvote. This is absolutely not in any comparison. Are you really going to put such increadible downvotes now on everyone on Hive that ever earned a single SBI ? Or is it because of the Appreciator? .. Or do you just hate me? .. I do not evne used a single bid.bot in my whole life !

I dont get you, so it would be nice if you can at least explain what your problem is here with me that justifies a 5 $ downvote in your opinion.

Ok, I see what you mean. Thank you for the quick answer and the explanations ^^

Please don't be intimidated @adalger. mmmmkkkk311 is a total loser with nothing better to do than coerce people. Don't be controlled by fear. Be free and spread the love.

@derekrichardson , couldn't have said it better myself!
