Saturday was an ok day as both the main bets won while I gave some away on the others still making it an overall profitable day. I hope to continue the good trend on Sunday in the 4 matches that are left of week 29.
Genk vs Standard
Genk right now is not in their best form but also not in their worst. Fact just remains that the current team on the pitch simply is not as good as it once was as too many of the key players are gone. Fadera, Munoz, Paintsil, Arteaga are currently missed while their centrum striker position simply isn't up to the level of a top club. They are still in fight for a playoff 1 Spot and have matters in their own hands if they take a 6 on 6. Howevern this against Standard today and Westerlo next week who both still could use the points. Only a win today will do for Genk while Standard mathematically will be sure the stay in with a point. However, a crazy scenario of them losing today and next week against Eupen while OHL wins against Club and Mechelen and also Westerlo winning against Genk + Charleroi winning against Gent. So at best it's 1 in a 1000 that Standard still plays the playdowns. Their play actually hasn't been that bad and last week they for the first time also managed to get a high xg which was their main problem before thanks to Yehoah. The pattern for Genk is that they tend to start their matches poorly but improve along the way. My main lean is on most goals to come in the 2nd half as Genk absolutely has to win while Standard is free to take risks in order to get a draw and be sure to stay in. I do expect Genk to play for the win from the Start. Standard is not the best away team without a win in their last 9 league matches.
No Pre-Game Bets
Club Brugge vs OH Leuven
Club Brugge is in between European matches where they still have a good chance to qualify despite losing 2-1 against Molde who weren't really a good team. The same problem remains that they have plenty of quality in their squad but for some reason it rarely fully comes out which puts them in 4th spot in the league and 20 points behind on Union. Zinckernagel is back and they should play with an A-Sqaud while Thiago and Nusa are out and Onyedika is suspended. On paper it should be an easy win but it would not be the fist time that Brugge somehow finds a way to screw it up. OHL got themselves in a playdown spot having bad luck that Charleroi took points out of nowhere in their last 2 matches. OHL still has matters in their own hands but the schedule is just brutally hard with Club Brugge today and Mechelen who play for a Playoff spot next week. I'm quite sure OHL would sign for a draw today if they could which leaves them a chance in the last week. However, their general form and play simply hasn't been good enough and they are also without Maertens today. I do expect OHL to come with the plan to park the bus and try to get one in on the counter. I fear they will only be able to make this work for so long. My only real option is to back Club Brugge purely due to the quality difference and I'm hoping for a strong defensive start from OHL and maybe even a counter to catch a better line of the home team. I already took a tiny 0.1 unit initial bet on
Club Brugge -1.5 @ 2.124. If OHL is behind by 1 goal they likely will leave huge spaces in the defense at the end for Club Brugge to exploit.
Union vs AA Gent
Union finally hit a wall on Thursday against what was a better more experienced team. The eternal question with Union is when things will turn around for them or when fatigue will start kicking in. So far the wait remains leaving only speculation. AA Gent still fights for a playoff 1 spot and have a missing to win both of there matches so a win and only a win could do today against Union. This makes it rather pointless to bet the underdog handicap. I fully expect AA Gent coach to have his team fired up for this match giving it everything they have. If anything, he has tried to copy/match the union play style this season. Their problem however is that they have lacked efficiency both in offense and in defense as too many key players left. I don't expect a closed down match and both teams should go from it from the start. Union also is an over 1H team having 58.3% of their home goals in it with an average of 2. AA gent is also over 1 at 46% of the goals in 1st half away. I took an initial 0.15 unit bet on
1st Half Over 1 @ 1.820. AA Gent needs a win and can't just lay back while they have done quite ok on their corners away against top teams in the last 3 against those never losing a corner matchup. Union in their last 3 home matches never won the corners by more than 1. I managed to take just 0.056 units on
AA Gent +2 Corners @ 1.813 and also some crypto bet on the corners market over at Dexsport.io. I'm also leaning toward the over on this match and already took a quick 0.1 unit on
Over 2.75 @ 2.06. Should be an interesting game.
Eupen vs Sint-Truiden
Eupen is sure of a playdown spot and are a team that hasn't managed to score in a long time losing their last 5 matches with a 0-11 goal saldo a just 1 clear loss against Club Brugge away with 4-0. Stvv is a team that has nothing left to play for sitting in 9th spot. This showed last week with a poor performance against Antwerp. They however are the better team for sure but a lot will depend with what mindset they enter the pitch. Just seeing how hard of a time Eupen has to score goals though I did take a crypto bet of 0.02 ETH on
Eupen Team Total Under 1 @ 1.990 but also not more as they did reach above 1xg in their last 2 matches despite not scoring and there might be a lack in defensive focus for Stvv.
