The Super Eagles have been on a team to contend with in this tournament. They were excellent in the group stage, cruising through the their opponents. They even topped Ivory Coast by a narrow victory. Do you remember that penalty from Troost-Ekong during the Super Eagles previous match with the Ivorians? That was the decider and is history going to repeat itself?
In the knockouts, Nigerians faced tougher challenges, but their resilience saw them through. The 1-1 draw against South Africa in the Semis followed by the thrilling penalty shootout proved how determined they are.
The stats are in the favour of the Super Eagles but is that enough to see them through? The stats shows that the Nigerians conceded the least goals (2) in the tournament, boasting a solid defense that's marshalled by their ever-reliable Captain, Ekong. Up front, they have Osimhen, the current African Footballer of the Year, who is hungry for goals. His link-up with Lookman is an attack to watch out for but can they translate this their dominance into the final act? Time will tell.
As for the Ivorians, honestly, their journey has been nothing short of dramatic. From a shaky start to going through as best losers. I don't think anyone would argue the fact that they've defied the odds right? I don't want anyone to underestimate the fighting spirit of the Elephants. Just look at the way they stunned Senegal in the round of 16, Mali in the quarter final and then DR Congo in the semis. Trust me, they are all out for the game.
Statistically, they might not be as good and impressive as Nigeria but I think they are still a force to be reckoned with. The Elephants have conceded more goals and they haven't been their best defensively but guess what, they have the home advantage and this simply mean they have roar of the crowd that would be fueling their every step. CThe question now is this; can their newfound belief and fighting spirit overcome the odds once again?
Who do I think would win? This is a tough one guys. The Super Eagles seems to have the edge. Their form, defense, and firepower are all on point but I don't want to rule out the Elephants, especially with the home crowd behind them. The Ivorians have shown they can overcome adversity, and who knows, maybe they'll pull off another miracle today.
I am a Nigerian so of course I would be supporting my country. Their consistency and clinical finishing have been impressive and that's what matters the most to me. But guys, anything is possible. The ivorians knows how to get what they want, they won the Afcon 2024. Nigeria super eagle did tried their best, but it was not enough to emerge the first position.
I don't think they tried their best. I feel they were too relaxed. They thought the Elephants were a work over for them. They undermined the Ivorians and they got served. I think the Eagles deserved what they got
The phrase clarify everything, that was what happened, they thought it was nothing to worry about, meanwhile, the ivorians wanted to win, the match came out in another route for them and it was on the dying minutes they realize themselves but it was too late to score a goal.
