I don't know why your varnish cracked. Normally the coat you put on is very thin, subtle, just to seal everything. I don't know if your varnish is too thick, if so, try thinning it just a little.

And the rock from the post I applied a lot less and tried to smooth it with my fingertips before the lines from the brush dry. And it was ok until it dried more and then I realized it was not the thing I had to do. So, it's still a learning process now. 🤭 {maybe I should just stay with music hahaha}

Try to dilute it a little bit next time, so that it is more liquid so that it doesn't mark the brush so much and it takes a little while to dry. Sometimes varnishes tend to get a little complicated.

The varnish seems to be of good quality, I think diluting it (with water 😁) will make things easier for you. Go testing until you like the result. It may take a little while to dry but it will.
