  • Skin Long-Wear Fluid Powder Foundation Bobbi Brown

  • Studio Tech M.A.C

  • Dermacolor Camouflage Creme.

  • Dermablend Vichy

  • Revlon ColorStay 24H

Ideas: step by step

Good day my dear hive community:

A few days ago I faced a challenge as a makeup seller that I want to talk to you about because it is a topic that we mostly don't know what to do with. And my challenge was to be able to find a way to help a person with vitiligo.

This person wanted to start paying me for a full makeup kit but before I agreed, I stopped her because she has very sensitive skin and recently started showing signs of skin allergies. So before I took the risk, I recommended that she see her dermatologist and for my part, I took out my notes, studied and started researching options for her.

First you have to understand what is vitiligo?

It is a disease that causes loss of pigmentation of the skin in certain areas and occurs when pigment-producing cells die or stop functioning. There is no cure, only treatment with steroids (also in cream) and photodynamic therapy.

I want to advance that it is not going to be cheap to prepare the face, since special products must be sought to avoid irritating or causing adverse reactions of the skin. Always emphasizing that this disease can worsen with irritation.

Wash the face with plenty of water and soap or cleansing gel, tonic to refresh the facial skin and close the pores. Finally, apply a moisturizer to protect and hydrate the skin. Remember to use what the dermatologist recommends because despite the disease, the skin still has the classic differences such as being oily, combination or dry.

You must apply a primer to smooth skin imperfections, for this we will recommend: La Roche Posay mattifying unifying mousse with color, which will prevent shine and sweating which is the main concern for vitiligo; and NuFACE Gel Primer.

Now with concealers, the recommendation I will make is that they should be high-end for their longevity, so the friendliest products with these characteristics are those from MAC:

You have to apply concealer in a dark shade that most closely resembles the tone of the rest of the skin only in the areas of depigmentation. It is important to apply it by dabbing it with a brush or sponge, trying not to make the cuts (the blurred edges) between the corrected areas and the rest of the skin too noticeable.

If the color doesn't match at this point, that's okay, it will be corrected with foundation.

I would suggest sealing with translucent powder, let it sit for ten minutes, remove the excess and apply foundation afterwards. But if you're an expert at blending without removing concealer, you can skip that step.

The foundations I'll recommend for this are high coverage, both drugstore and in-store:

  • Skin Long-Wear Fluid Powder Foundation Bobbi Brown.

  • Studio Tech M.A.C

  • Dermacolor Camouflage Creme.

  • Dermablend Vichy

  • Revlon ColorStay 24H

  • Accord Parfait L'Oréal Paris

Personal recommendation: Dermacolor is from the Kryolan brand, used for theatrical makeup also for its high durability, I highly recommend its entire range, including the fixers for their dermatological concern, designed for many hours with the products on top.

The foundation is applied either with a brush or a sponge. If you use a sponge, do not forget to use a damp sponge. If you still notice color differences, you can apply concealer half a tone darker little by little to even out the color.

Repeat the previous step of sealing with translucent powder.

For eyebrows:

Vitiligo also discolors the hair, so it is possible that the eyebrows can be almost white. In this case, the eyebrow prep will be with eyebrow soap, pencil and an eyebrow gel mascara.

They are combed with the soap, the lower and upper outline is done and the hairs are carefully painted using the gel.

Personal recommendation: if the filler fails you and you don't have such a good pulse, look for the gel to be in an applicator like a mascara. If you are already investing, a very good one is Mini Gimme Brown +.

The rest of the makeup is a matter of taste and intensity; as I said before, the important thing is that the canvas is prepared. So as an additional thing, you can use a fixative spray or atomizer, remembering that it should not have too much alcohol to avoid irritation.

To remove makeup, I recommend that in the same way, are products that your dermatologist prescribes. But in case you want to do it on your own, avoid makeup remover wipes, make sure they are all liquid and cream for sensitive skin, and please do not rub the skin. This is to avoid irritation that can further aggravate the area.
