A few days ago, I felt sick and took a day off. Only then did I realize how precious a healthy body and busy, active life are.
A client I talked to in July suddenly replied. Normally, I’d be excited, but this time I just clicked, glanced, and swiped away—no excitement at all. It turns out the saying "Health is the foundation of everything" only hits hard when you’re ill: I had no energy, felt down, lost my appetite, and couldn’t get comfortable sitting, lying, or sleeping. I was just wrapped in "discomfort."
In that weak state, I finally reflected: the bad habits I ignored had hidden risks—I sat all day at work without moving, stayed up late on my phone, and ate quick, unhealthy meals. I knew these hurt me, but I always made excuses. I promised myself: when I recover, I’ll sleep regularly, exercise, and put health first.
But once I got better, old routines pulled me back. I still hit snooze, lay on the sofa scrolling after work, and put off planned exercise with "tomorrow." I’d felt illness’s pain and knew health is fragile, but old habits were too strong. My reflections when sick lost to daily laziness.
Maybe that’s human: we cherish things only when lost, but repeat mistakes when we have them back. Yet this "clear regret" makes us pause sometimes, remember those bad days, and adjust our off-track life. In the fight between "reflection" and "habit," we slowly find balance with health.
