On our fourth day in Beijing, we visited the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution. This was a stop we had planned well in advance—not only because of its extensive exhibits and solemn atmosphere, but also because we hoped Nina could begin to understand the strength of our country and the solid foundation behind our national security from a young age.
As we stepped into the museum, rows of real fighter jets, tanks, and cannons were displayed before us in a striking manner. Nina's eyes lit up with curiosity as she circled around them again and again. From ancient cold weapons to modern high-tech equipment, we explored the exhibits while explaining everything along the way. She was especially fascinated by the model of the Shenzhou spacecraft and the missile system exhibit. Constantly awestruck, she kept asking us questions: “Can this really fly?” “How do these soldiers train?” Her small figure standing before the enormous weapons seemed tiny, yet it was as if a seed of responsibility and ambition had been planted in her heart.
We also visited the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression exhibit. Looking at the old military uniforms, handwritten letters from the battlefield, and damaged rifles, Nina gradually quieted down and listened intently as the guide recounted those turbulent years. I saw something stir in her eyes—perhaps she couldn’t fully grasp the weight of words like “nation” and “sacrifice” just yet, but this immersive experience surely left a deep impression on her.
This day was not just a visit to a museum—it was a moment of emotional connection and education. I hope Nina comes to understand that today’s peace and happiness have not come easily; the path to a strong nation requires the dedication and protection of generation after generation.
After all, as the saying goes, “A strong youth makes a strong country.” Maybe this dream sounds a bit lofty now, but that’s okay—after all, “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” And who knows? Our brave little Nina, who loves Mulan so much, might one day become a true heroine in her own right.
