Hive Open Mic ( #openmic ) is a global community celebrating live music on Hive. Each week is a new event, encouraging musicians to share songs with an international audience.
Sometimes the music spins me like a whirlpool. Dizzying, the world around me blurs from my eyes. The surrounding sounds go silent. In these moments, the music carries me away. I may lose all track of time and space, finding myself floating and drifting, neither flying nor falling, but flowing.
I imagine we all experience these feelings at times, in the creative zone, whether we're making music or dreaming. Sometimes it feel scary to me, surrendering to that un-grounded experience of going somewhere new, working through the wobbles, encountering surprises, responding to obstacles, aiming for an unknown destination. It's not entirely fun.
For me, the "joy" in the journey comes from the brilliance and beauty I witness along the way. Much like being in a forest and witnessing a bird song, or a fragrant flower, or a trail of ants on a mission... I see signs of the divine. Making music, making art, making impressions on the world is a joyful action whenever I'm aligning with the divine, which I see through the brilliance and beauty that I bring.
This week's Hive Open Mic theme is: "Joy to the World." For this occasion, I thought I would follow my bliss, making joyful choices and joyful noises, hoping to bring more joy to the world. My offering is a simple song, just one stanza long, with space for improvisation. I invite you to feel it out and sing along, if the music resonates for you. Thank you for listening.

I admire your talent and dedication for what you do! And your songs and style absolutely demonstrate your music identity perfectly - I mean: it is so "you"! It resonates with your soul and with nature - I hear the sound, the echo of forests, mountains, trees and animals and the wind in there. I'm no more mentioning some particular technique whenever I hear your songs anymore, I believe that I started to fall into a Lindsay's vibe - and vibe is "a whole big thing" that affects the listener in a long lasting, a deeper and more profound way! Oh wow, your words! Ahhh. Thank you for "seeing" me, and reading between the lines of what I am offering here. You are so kind to see me and this music in such a favorable light. To me, I think of a Spirit that is present in the Nature of things—the divine essence I recognize in the natural surroundings. I imagine that might be what you're finding here, and if so I'm grateful for that. In fact, I am working every day to romance the divine—deepening my relationship with Spirit. I see life as a journey, where we ourselves have the option to enjoy the scenery as we walk. It is very easy to be happy and harmonize in peace with our surroundings, but I understand that not everyone understands this. At least I know that we as musicians have the secret to be happy. I trust you know how much words mean to me. Thank you. Yeah, I have come to the realization that Joy can be my guiding force. Lately, my mantra for daily life is: "I am making joyful choices." This principle is really helping me to discern what's right for me. I think joy is an extension of the Love that is with me always, and in fact I believe it's the truest aspect of who I am. I believe I am born to be joyful. I am born to love. By the way, I love your new Christmasy profile picture.

It used to be written a little differently: "I remember to join in and enjoy..." which was my initial motivation for selecting this song for our "Joy to the World" theme.
