Hello everyone, how are you all? my name is @donirosayandi, I am a beginner guitarist.
This time i challenge myself to sing for the week 87 open mic contest with the theme "Different Thoughts." This week's theme is chosen by Spotlight Artist @jaredkhamanah , who is an incredibly gifted songwriter and song carrier.
This theme is a bit difficult for me, to decide what song I will choose to sing. Finally I chose a song from the band Sheila On 7 entitled "Dan"
In my opinion, this song is different in 2 things: first, the title (Dan) which means "and", is a conjunction of equivalent language units, which belong to the same type and have no different functions, such as father and mother. Usually the song title is an object and not a conjunction. But the difference is this song is titled with a conjunction.
The second is the lyrics contained in this song where the main character asks to forget it and asks to berate himself to see his lover back up and shine like before. This is very contradictory and paradoxical.
These 2 things, in my opinion, make this song different from other songs, this different thought was composed by Eross Candra who is a member of the Indonesian music group Sheila on 7. Eross is a guitarist in the group, won the AMI Award for the best song of the year. 2001, AMI Award for best songwriter of 2018, and other awards.
The song "Dan" is the second single that made Sheila On 7's name more known, this song is taken from the first debut album "Sheila on 7" in 1999.
This is the reason that made me choose this song, because this song has a different thought, according to this week's theme chosen by @jaredkhamanah .
